    74 Dodge chassis Sportsman/Jamboree

I've actually been watching National Lampoon's Christmas to see how Cousin Eddie worked his!  8) ha ha Thanks, I have been reading a lot in the library..there is a ton of great info for people like me in there! I don't plan on dumping a lot of $$ in to this one, so simple fixes will have to...

    16.5 dually's

I wasn't even born til 79'  :P I really haven't even checked the working condition of things yet (no extra batter or propane yet), I've been concentrating on coating the roof, new roof vent covers, ripping out the rear interior water damage, and now changing some engine fluids (oil last night...

    Skylight problem

As long as you use the correct wood, such as teak, or seal it correctly you should be good to go..you can make anything out of wood! (if done properly).  If there is too much of a gap could you use expanding foam to seal it up?  I am a complete noobie, so I'm not sure about what to do with the...

    74 Dodge chassis Sportsman/Jamboree

Best or worst $500 I've spent this year.  So the kids talked me in to this beaute, but I am still unsure if I'm happy or not lol It ran, and was driven home..so that was a plus.  I should have taken pics first, but once I get tools in my hand I am destruction crazy.  So far I've coated the roof...

    16.5 dually's

:o Hey J can you be my RV mentor or something?? lol I paid $500 for my 74', never thinking my first would be older than I.  ;) I honestly have no idea how to use most of the things on this thing, but being handy and ingenious (form of ingenuity?) I can usually figure it out or completely ruin...

    Eternabond on "vintage" 85 Itasca.

Is that eternabond just for sealing around vents?  I scraped similar stuff off my roof last night (a 74 Dodge chassis..yikes, I know), and it looked just like your pics and fit the description you wrote.  I didn't know if I should put new around my vents, and also along the two main roof...

    16.5 dually's

If I could afford the Class A I could probably afford the tires! ha ha  :P Yeah J, I hadn't planned on buying one of these for another few years when I could actually afford a decent one without weird smells, mice, missing parts, and water damage...but we'll see if we can't squeeze a few trips...

    Nue B PA BOYS

I thought about it after the fact, but I will try to remember to get my camera out there tomorrow.  Once I get tools in my hand I get tunnel vision.  ;D  I did put 1 coat of elstameric coating on the roof, I'm hoping that will work out.  Tomorrow the 3 new vent covers go on as well before...

    Nue B PA BOYS

Hey everyone, I've been spending a lot of time trolling and browsing through all of the new-b sections and how to's.  We just purchased a 1974 Dodge chassis RV for $500.  I hadn't planned on buying one right now (though we've wanted one for a long time), but the deal was (hopefully) worth the...

    16.5 dually's

:o :o :o O.o I will def look for 17" or 16" wheels first.  I got 4 new truck tires put on for about $400, I couldn't imagine paying that much...especially when the rig only cost $500  ;)  Still, glad to see those who do not want to convert can find them.  Still...yikes, that's some serious money...

    16.5 dually's

Yikes, glad I stumbled upon this! My bad about resurrecting the old threads, but I'm a new-b  ???  Are salvage yards the way to go, or has anyone else with an ancient RV found decent prices on the net for the 16.5 ==> 17 conversion?  Thanks!

    Ceiling replacement

I will be replacing the ceiling & insulation on ours as well, and was planning to find all the material at a place like Home Depot or Lowes.  It seems most of the products marketed to RVing are 3X the price as the same product packaged differently. I'm hoping to find some thin insulation there...
