Fluid Film Safe for RV trailer frames?

Hello We just got our new Rockwood 2205S home (build date October 2022) and there is a far bit of surface rust already on the frame. I guess Lippert's powered coating is not that great. We live in Ontario Canada so we are familiar with rust. I have been spraying my truck with Fluid Film with...

Keystone Cougar vs Rockwood Build and Quality

45 years! As a Cabinet maker I could live with the Rockwood, the Cougar not so much Our 2011 Jayfeather 242 (which we are replacing) has cabinets I would install in a home!

Keystone Cougar vs Rockwood Build and Quality

The difference that makes me the most hesitant is the lack of Adzel in the Cougar I'm a cabinet maker and I have seen what water does to Luan! There is a considerable price difference, the Cougar is a 2022 model and Rockwoods are hard to find up here in Ontario Canada so few deals. My wife...

Keystone Cougar vs Rockwood Build and Quality

We are considering either a Rockwood Mini Lite 2511S or a Keystone Cougar 22RBS. I was wondering every ones thoughts on the build quality of each. My thoughts so far Cougar Pluses Thicker walls and pass through doors (slam latches) More headroom Trussed Roof vs Bonded Less expensive (in this...

    Electronic Sway Control

When I tow my Trailer (GVWR of 6500 Equalizer WDH) turn my trucks sway control off.  The truck a Ford F150 HD seems to tow the TT better without it.  As an added bonus I also get better fuel mileage without it and less rear brake wear.  I think it kind of "fights" with the  trailers WDH. I am...

    Battery storage

Thanks for all the help.  I have connected a "Smart Charger" set on maintenance, to the dual 6 volt batteries. The trailer inverter is unplugged. A final question, should I turn off the power to the trailer from the batteries (I installed a switch) to prevent a drain or leave it on? Thanks...

    Battery storage

I have winterised my TT, and now for the batteries.  I installed a pair of 6 volt golf cart batteries and they would be a pain to remove for the winter. My question:  How do I store the batteries? 1. Plug the trailer in an AC outlet for the winter. 2 Connect a electronic battery charger (set...

Heavier tires for half ton pickup

IMO after owning Pick Ups for over 40, if you are going to use your truck as a truck you should have LT tires on it.  The ride will be harsher but the tires will be much tougher and stable.  I run LTs on my new F150 and air them down when not towing or hauling and the ride is not much worse...

    Weight Distribution Hitch Set Up

Thanks again. I'm a Cabinet Maker and I really tend to over think these things and worry about fractions of inches!

    Weight Distribution Hitch Set Up

Thanks everyone for the help.  I set it up in my gravel laneway then towed it to a paved school driveway, which turned out to be almost perfectly level and checked the set up.  The trailer was dead on level and the front was back to within a 1/4 inch of unloaded height. Towed very well.  Very...

    Weight Distribution Hitch Set Up

I'm setting up my Equalizer WDH, I have watched numerous videos but still seem to have a few questions: - Setting the head on the shank, I know the top of the ball should be level with inside height of the hitch on the trailer, but this is almost never possible as the shanks have holes at even...

    Momentary Dim Lights

I was just out checking out the trailer for our upcoming trip and had a strange thing happen with the lights.  The light when turned on was dim, so I checked another same thing.  I turned it on and off and they went full brightness and seem fine now. The trailer was not plugged in, but it had...

    Welding a Ball On Hitch

The advantage I can see to tacking in on is you will be able to see if it moves. Not only did the "Geniuses" at the RV dealership not tighten the nut they also installed a ball with a standard length shank, resulting in the threads being messed up!

    Welding a Ball On Hitch

A strange question. I recently purchased a very lightly used Equalizer hitch.  As many will know the balls on Equalizers require a special socket to install, I guess the RV dealer were the original owner bought his trailer and hitch didn't bother with the special socket and the ball was loose. ...

    The infamous "yellow sticker"

Of course it's VIN specfic,  I don't think  I was getting anyone "off track". If you are ordering a truck or trying to estimate payload you do not have a yellow sticker or a door for that matter!  I was pointing out away to estimate payload, which usually is off a bit from the VIN specfic...
