Anybody take the wheels off their class A to polish them?

Another vote for Mothers.  I used a cleaner compound wax, and it turned out just fine.  My battery for my drill (for the buffing) lasted about a wheel and a quarter, so I got to rest ever so often.  The wheels look great, in fact so good I am in the process of waxing the whole thing.  Slippery...

    Kudos to Les Schwab

I shopped for tires across the country, and Les Schwab in Oakridge, Oregon, had prices within ten dollars of the lowest.  They were four months old as I requested, and then they sold my old tires and gave me a check for $300.  The lost one of my valve extenders, so put a new set on for me, no...

Top of the line travel trailers

And it is a 5th wheel, not a trailer. Airstreams are expensive, but they hold their value like few, if any, others.  I looked for a few years, off and on, before I finally bought a Class A, but Airstream would be my choice for a good investment. Good time to buy, too.

    Bad odor solved

What would be the negatives of just sealing that smelly vent off completely?  Or, venting it to outside, like trough a wall?

    Bowl Liners...

I am probably telling more than anyone wants to know, but here is how I handle the situation. If I expect a particularly sticky situation to develop, I fill the bowl with enough water to cover the bowl bottom, and fold a sheet of TP and put it on top of the water.  Porcelain bowl, automated...

What do you wish you asked the previous owner?

Where are the key fobs to the alarm system and door lock? What is the safe combination? Full preventative mainenance schedule?

How old are you? Still driving?

Twenty years ago my thumbs (at 58) would wake me up screaming, and a hand surgeon I consulted said to stand it as long as I could, because the replacement thumb joints did not work out all that well. So, I found an acupuncturist, instant relief after first treatment, and after four nearly back...

    Shower water pressure?

My shower was pretty dismal too, until I followed the above recommendations:  1. Remove restrictor gadget (piece of plastic with a tiny hole in it), 2. cleaned the shower head in vinegar, 3. blew out the water lines from the pump to the shower valve, 4.  and finally, the real problem I had...

    Dumping in the campground toilet

I bought a macerating pump for just this eventuality, planning to dump black water into a commode or vault toilet.  Never had to use it, though.  I prefer to use the 3" hose as the "whoosh" effect gets more material out of the tank.  I think. One park I hosted said to not drain gray water, but...

Fried 2000 WATT Inverter. Has this happened to you, if not, don't !

Thought for the future.  I bought a fancy LCD readout tower heater, and it freaked out my Xantrex 2K inverter. It tripped the breaker on the inverter itself, and took a while to find.  I discovered my coach had been wired with a separate circuit that bypassed all the coach systems, (labeled...

The breakers keep breaking and it's 103 in the shade

Many years ago I had a house in Austin, Texas, that would blow breakers only in the afternoon.  When I investigated, the breaker box, in full sun, was too hot to touch.  I devised a foil and wool blanket insulating shade for it, problem solved.

    Towing a Lexus LX470?

Funny you have a Durango, that is the base plate that came with my tow bar.  Sold it to a nice person on line here. If you can find a used tow bar and/or baseplate, I would not be afraid of it.  Be sure you get some braces (did not come with mine) that you need, as they are often left on the...

    Towing a Lexus LX470?

Well, tow "hooks" may be a bit of a misnomer, as they are really tow "loops".  The loop part looks like about 3/8 hardened steel, welded onto a plate that is bolted to the frame horn ends. I do not know if the newer Lexus have them. If the tow loops were not super strong, with nearly fifteen...

    Rebuilding a burnt RV

I bought a very nice 2003 Class A that had been sitting for a couple of years, no salvage, no fire, just sitting.  I have been nearly two (enjoyable) years getting everything to work.  Living in it has made rehabbing easier, because I am living IN my work.  I can't imagine dealing with the...

    Towing a Lexus LX470?

I did not see what year the LX is, but it is probably much like mine if it is a 1997 or earlier.  Later ones need to be checked to be sure the Low-Neutral-High transfer case lever actually moves gears in the transfer case, and not some esoteric electronic gizmo.  All bets are off if it does not...
