    Our first tire failure

The tires were rated for way more weight than we are carrying.  Don't know what the problem is but we replaced them with much better tires.  We're supposed to be getting some credit for the old tires, but haven't seen it yet.

    What's your worst RV experience?

Luckily, nothing worse than the three tire blowouts the first week of this year's six month journey.  Hopefully, we've used up all our bad mojo for the year....

I'm glad there's SOME good reason to be over 60!

    Our first tire failure

We had three flats in the first week of our trip (two on the same day).  What a way to start six months on the road.  Ended up buying five new tires and hopefully we've used up all our bad mojo.  They were the tires that were on the fiver when we bought it new in January 2010 - put about 6,000...

    Eeeewwww!!!!!

When I lived in the middle east for a few years, we added 16 drops of chlorine to each gallon of drinking water, washed all our fruit and vegetables in a chlorine solution and washed dishes in water with chlorine.  My stomach is still in good shape.

Branson Missouri Flooding Week of April 24,2011

We spent the last two nights in Vicksburg MS and the water is rising.  Some areas are under evacuation orders and the RV parks that are on higer ground are filling up fast with the evacuees.  The casinos are sand-bagging.  It's supposed to be the worst flood since the 20's and the high water is...

    Human Powered Washing Machine

My first washing machine had a hand-cranked wringer.  Not that I'm THAT old, but I was living in a third-world country at the time and actually having ANY kind of a washing machine was a luxury beyond compare.  Prior to getting the washing machine, I was washing clothes in the bathtub.  By foot.

    Human Powered Washing Machine

It's the lack of spin cycle that would kill me.  These old hands would have a hard time wringing out towels and jeans.  Then, where would I hang the wet stuff?  Most parks specifically state "no clotheslines" in their rules.  I guess I'm stuck with the laundromats.

    cooking heats up rv

This year I'm taking an electric griddle and an electric skillet, so I can cook out on the picnic table in good weather.  Really helps when you're cooking fish or something else that stinks up the camper.  Saves on propane, too.

Don't Mount Bikes on 5er Bumper.

We bought a ladder-mounted bike rack rated for two bikes for our trip last year and it took about two weeks for it to bend the ladder.  We put it on exactly as the instructions said, but obviously our ladder wasn't strong enough.  So, had to spend the rest of the four months hauling the bikes in...

    5th wheel leveling

We were out four months last year (our first) and heading out May 1st for six months this year.  I can say that 90% of our arguments were about leveling.  The rest of the time we are your model couple but get some leveling going and one of us (I won't say which one, but it ain't me...heehee)...

Question about holding tanks and sensors

Have never had a lot of luck with the sensors.  We can dump and flush and the darn things still say 3/4 full.  We just learned to judge when it's time to dump.

    Dog in the RV?

We don't have any pets with us, so I don't have personal experience, but I can warn you not to trust shore power.  Twice last summer in very hot weather, we came back to our RV after a long day away to find no electricity. Once because power was out for the whole campground for almost a day and...

    Absolute Worst Storm You've Experienced

We were just finishing up fueling at a truck stop in Iowa last year when a State Trooper came dashing in and yelled "there's a huge hailstorm heading this way!  Get on the highway and go south!".  We stopped a couple of hours down the road for the night and watched the news.  Three blocks from...

    Easy way around Denver

My dad always said "Make sure you live right and don't end up going to hell, 'cause you'll have to drive through Atlanta to get there..."
