Oil weights for Class A motorhomes...

It's interesting it is for both "new" and "high mileage" vehicles. Considering my rig only has 30K on it, this might be an option! Thanks for the info!!

Oil weights for Class A motorhomes...

Thanks so much for everyone's responses! I really do appreciate the time and energy you all have put into answering. I think I have a pretty good idea on what type and how much oil to use now. Thanks again everyone!!!!

Oil weights for Class A motorhomes...

sorry, should've specified: 1999 Winnebago GT Vectra. Owners manual seems to talk more about the MH itself and not the engine, from what I can tell. Yeah, it'd be nice if they did!!

Oil weights for Class A motorhomes...

Howdy All! Does anyone have a suggestion for a proper motor oil weight for a southwestern kept MH with a 7.4L 454? I'm not sure if using the guidelines you would with a regular car or truck would apply here. Thanks for any info!

    Step isn't working now...

Sorry for the long awaited reply, we got back from our trip a couple of weeks ago and it's been gangbusters busy around here. Yes, indeed, it was a battery connection issue, I wound up having to replace the terminal itself (threads were stripped). $12 and problem solved! :) thanks for all of the...

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Hey everyone! Sorry for a delayed response, just got back a couple of weeks ago and had to go back to work :( ! All went well with the transmission and tires, both performed as they should. Had a major roof issue, was hit by some straight line winds in west TX (near Ft Stockton, I'm thinking it...

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Well, brought it to my local Allison Certified Service center. All checked out, and they say that yes, in this particular case, 3000RPM is normal. Apparently, 70MPH is about the max for this particular model, of which I probably won't even tempt. While they were in there, I had them do a...

    Step isn't working now...

OK, here's the deal: I brought my MH to the repair shop to have the house and dash AC worked on. All got fixed, but now my steps won't come in or out by themselves without starting the coach and my remote power lock FOB doesn't work any more. As far as I can tell, those are my only issues, so...

    P12 vs P30 chassis

OK, I'm thoroughly confused. I just bought a 1999 Winnebago Vectra GT and was looking up parts (alternator, starter, belts, etc.) and noticed that the only sub listing I could find the parts under was a Chevy P30 chassis. The advertisement from Winnebago states it's on a P-12 chassis. Then I...

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

John C - thank you for the advice. Yes, I looked for the date code, couldn't find it. As far as I know its a number after the letters DOT. Kinda strange... Gary - What was the improvements you saw/experienced with the 5 & 6 speed tranny's over the 4? Thank you for any insight you can provide!

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Hey Gary - Yeah, not expecting hybrid type MPG's that's for sure! ;D Just was looking for something in fairly decent shape around that year/price range. Everything else we looked at had visual clues that were show stoppers (stains on the Ozite, really bad fading on the exterior, really, really...

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Thank you Gary, that makes sense. I'm still new to this, so I'll have my learning curve. Always good to learn something new! ;D ;D dwaugh10 - I will see what information I can get and look for a formula to plug the data into. Would be interesting to see what it should be, thanks for the info! ;D

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

ChasA - Actually, I haven't. I was a little gun shy about pushing it, I will give that a try. Unfortunately, it is in the shop getting some AC work done (AZ heat's a-coming!) so it'll be a day or so before I can try. I'll let you know what happens, thanks!

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Sorry folks, forgot to add: Its a 1999 Winnebago Vectra GT, 37ft, Class A gas engine, 7.4L Vortec V8. I'm not seeing an overdrive option, last I remember (and from previous vehicles) its a button on the gear shifter of which this rig does not have. It only has P/N/D/D3/D1. As far as feeling it...

1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour - Allison 4 speed transmission question....

Just purchased a 1999 Winnebago Vectra Grand Tour with an Allison 4 speed transmission (29K miles) from a private seller.  While driving it,  I noticed that it maintains about 3000RPM at about 60mph. Is this normal? Thanks for any help/advice! edit by staff - changed message icon to topic...
