winterizing, vent covers, and access cover

I'm up in Idaho and don't cover anything just when snow load gets heavy I carefully shovel off some of the snow load.

    Dometic Fridge FIRE!

I've got a question for the OP... Where you a full timer or recreational RV'er? I can see a full timer running into this issue where fridge is running all the time and the moisture against the tubing will eventually rust through. Now a Recreational RV like my self might fire up the fridge 10-20...

    Scale weight

I've got a local scale that is segmented (3 panels) for truckers and works awesome. Rare to find but really helps in getting the whole job done in one shot.

    Suspension broke! :(

I've seen a few break in the middle between the eyes on the end and the alignment bolt in the center. I would also consider putting that in the scale and finding out how heavy it is. If its just wore out then you might be fine but if the base spring broke I wonder if you just over weight?

    How big is TOO big?

Might also be getting close to requiring a CDL license in some states too.

Light weight 27-29 foot travel trailer under 5000 lbs

I would scale you current vehicle and find out how much axle weight you got then you can calculate what you can pull. My truck is stated for 13,250 pounds of trailer or 20,000 gross combined weight... I'll never make it. I'm only 160 pounds from my GVWR of the truck. This why I say scale you...

    Winterized my keystone cougar

Compressed air method is really easy and doesn't need any modifications. All RV's have a city water connection. Just hook up your air hose to the city water line and blow the lines out. No messy pumping pink anti-freeze in or the expense of the anitfreeze either. Like I just commented to another...

    Repossession Best Option?

As for me personally most don't even have a clue about me... You'll be amazed on all the different thing you can do in a very rural area to make a living. I'm 15 miles from the closest town. As for me the jobs I do... Automotive Mechanic (Diesel mostly), Automotive Air Conditioning, Firewood...

    Newbie with Purchase Decisions

Like I tell everyone don't get too hung up on the tow ratings you most likely never reach them. The fact is you have to remember those numbers are based on NO passengers, NO cargo, FULL tank of fuel and 153 pound driver. So now if your like me and have a passenger, pet, cargo in the truck then...

    When?

I can tell you by about October 15 or so in Idaho I've got to winterize all the irrigation system and the RV. So that give you a clue from over here in the northwest.

New to Travel Trailers and could use HELP!

I'm one of the lucky ones that bought a 10 year old 2000 Jayco Eagle back in 2010 and been enjoying the RV since. Mostly just changing tires and small minor repairs. Nothing earth shattering. I've enjoyed the idea it mine and no loan so I now am modifying the RV for usage. Specs on my RV are...

    Repossession Best Option?

Personally I would of stop the destruction of the RV one way or another. Dog kennels, sold the dogs, etc. I'd never let a animal destroy my vehicles or RV.  If your purchased the RV your are responsible to pay for the loan now regardless of the damages. No different if I bought a brand new truck...

Moving in an RV/black tank and sewage hookup

Even in a RV park I would highly suggest starting the tank out with at least 5 gallons of water. This will help with odors and keeping the tank liquid. I also suggest you keep the gray tank closed too. This is handy for flushing your hose out and reducing the smell outside. During cold winter...

    Power questions

I know that this old house system isn't what you'd use in a RV. I just wanted to bring to light not all MSW inverter are bad. There is lots of photos on the Internet of what is called MSW and it nothing more that a square with a pause as it switches polarity. This I won't even consider a MSW it...
