    Payson to Mesa: Grade %?

Bottomline:  The F250 works just fine (as augmented with 1000# plus capacity in the back with air bag springs... afterall, the "big rigs" also do this) with the 31 RLTS (I mispoke earlier, calling it an RKLS) Pinnacle.  If you go with a larger Pinnacle, I would probably go to a 1-ton truck (the...

    Payson to Mesa: Grade %?

Joe... my internet connection went down in mid-conversation.... in any case, bottomline is: Have the 31RKLS Pinnacle... pretty heavy pin weight, so GVWR on regularly springed 2012 F250 is marginal.  However, air bags...extra springs, in effect, just like the F350 has, i.e., heavier springs...

    Payson to Mesa: Grade %?

Thanks... much appreciated.  We are in Payson right now.. negotiated the 6% grades on the way in here just fine... really like the "haul/tow" feature on the 250.  Barely touched the brakes, once the engine braking started... kept it right at 45-50 or so, with only slight touches of the brakes as...

    Payson to Mesa: Grade %?

Yes, hear you.  I worked on this a lot... with my Jayco dealer assuring me the Pinnacle could be handled will with the F250.. I ran into the same thing, the GVWR seemingly lacking (mine is also 4-wheel drive, lots of accessories.. ).  So, researched it, and discovered that the F350, with its...

    Payson to Mesa: Grade %?

We are pulling our Pinnacle to Mesa, right now.. am wondering about the road from Payson into Mesa... too steep for an F250 (diesel, engine braking, etc) and this 12,000+ pound Pinnacle? Or, not an issue? Came down a 4% slope today, into Tijeras, NM... not a problem at all.  Engine held it just...

Heating the RV while on the Highway.

Like this idea a lot!  We are heading for AZ in the dead of winter... and will have to travel through some pretty cold temperatures (potentially, anyway, at least the first couple of days)...  this could really help!  Thanks for sharing the idea.

My new TT suffered it's first failure

Just curious:  What amp load/wattage space heaters are you using?  Just wondering what kind of load one dares put on ac circuits in a TT (have a 5th wheel Jayco Pinnacle; just bought it, 2012 model)?  I guess up to 15 amp load is ok?

Winterizing: Air compressor and/or RV Antifreeze?

New to this RV thing... bought a new Jayco this July.  Reading in the manual last night about winterizing it, which points to 1) simply blowing out the lines through the city fill with an air compressor, and then pouring a bit of RV antifreeze in the drains, or, 2) pumping RV antifreeze into the...

    5th wheel hitch weight

So, 20-25% with truck-trailer level?  Or, trailer "tilted" toward the front? Am running 24% pin-weight (weighed at a truck stop) when loaded... both front end of trailer and back end of truck down a bit (which I don't like: Makes front end/wheels feel like it "comes loose" on the road).

    Just bought a 5th wheeler

Well, used to do a lot of tent camping... getting back into it, sort of (although an RV is far more intriguing than a tent!).  Recently bought a 5th wheel "camper" (RV, really... hotel room on wheels).  Looking forward to following the birds south in the fall and north in the spring. Have lots...
