    Northstar vs Palomino vs Phoenix

I can see why you might be a bit confused by that 'answer' ;) Should have expanded on that. The palomino is, in my opinion, a nice, good quality unit. The owner is the kind of person who won't own anything that doesn't perform, good bang for the buck, etc. so by him keeping it for so long (for...

    Lifting a travel trailer

Yep, about $100 IS all it is too. Built a smaller, bumper-pull util. trailer a few years ago, and upgrading to heavier duty than required was a no brainer after comparing cost. Any idea what is average center-to-center distance on RV framerails? I'm sure all mfgrs are different, but prob not by...

    tow vehicle pros and cons?

Lou, you're mostly right, although it was thru '05 that auto-equipped oil burrners were de-rated over the manual trans versions. If it's a Peoples Republic of Kalifornia truck, then its even further derated. Look at spending around $3-4k to build up a bullet proof auto trans behind a pumped-up...

    Lifting a travel trailer

Well, lowering isn't really an option for me. Although admittedly it would probably be the smarter/cheaper way to go. My thinking is, I've got a 22' gooseneck with a bed height of about 38". I've stacked units of lumber on there that brought overall height to 12' +/-. The CG on that would have...

jayco- Walls bubbling & seam condensation..

Read on here somewhere about TPO (assuming thats ThermoPlastic Olefin?). Not seeing that much either. Your right, I've only seen a couple f/g roofs. You got a point about too many seams, no way around that, for sure. As far as my username, it was 'descriptive' up until 2005, when I got out. I'm...

OOPS GVWR GCVWR Does it Matter - A leson learned

I've always subscribed to the notion to buy more truck than you think you'll ever need. I put over 100k towing miles on my '98 Dodge 2500 V-10 4x4. 22' gooseneck w/ empty weight of 6300#'s. I would regularly have around 12k lbs on trailer. Never had issue one. Very tough truck, I ordered it with...

    tow vehicle pros and cons?

I towed my first 5-er, a 32' Komfort behind my '98 Dodge 2500 4x4 w/ V-10 and 5spd man. The only thing bad was the fuel econ. Like all my vehicles, I played around under the hood, so power was never an issue. I've seen quite a fe V-10's on ebay lately, going cheap. They are great motors, will...

    Lifting a travel trailer

Going to have to do this to whatever 5th-er I end up buying. My Dodge sits up way to high to tow a normal height trailer. Any thought to going up a size or two on tires?

jayco- Walls bubbling & seam condensation..

Had this problem on my first RV, a 32' Komfort 5'er. Unit was ony 4 years old when I bought it, turned into a water damage nightmare. Fortunatley I was able to do all the work myself, which saved big $$$. My question is, are there other roof options out there besides rubber? Have been looking...

    Free the Seals

Unfortunately, the truth is there isn't more to the story. The scumbag got a little roughed up, that is all. He should feel VERY lucky to be alive.

    Northstar vs Palomino vs Phoenix

One of the guys in our elk camp has a Palamino. He mainly uses it for hunting 3-4 times a year, plus the odd caming trip. Quality/fit/finish seem really good, can't speak for resale, but I don't see him selling it anytime soon.

    fuel mileage

My buddies got pretty much the same set-up, and his fuel econ is around 16-17 hiway w/ pop-up in the bed. He does have a tuner (Banks econo-mind I believe) which improves h.p. and mileage. I get about the same fuel mileage in my Dodge (one in pic.) fwiw.
