has anyone replaced their horribly heavy corian table?

Probably similar to what Lee mentioned: http://makezine.com/projects/hollow-core-door-table/ You can also make your own hollow core from scratch.  Top and bottom being 1/8" or even 1/4" high quality veneer ply.  Insides are strips of wood spaced  several inches apart (or more ... your choice)...

Is fixing this up worth it?

Brett1111 .... have you considered doing a small school bus conversion? http://www.remodelista.com/posts/rehab-diaries-a-makeover-for-a-maine-bus Some of the appliances in your "free" trailer might be usable for a small conversion like the one pictured.  The shower in your trailer is small and...

    Air Horn Suggestions?

Couple of thoughts:  Pull the factory "beep-beep" horn and replace with a classic Cadillac horn set.  You can find them on e-Bay or do like I did, go to an auto junk yard.  The two tone sound is very attention getting and the horns are less expensive than air horns with 12v air pumps.

    1962 4106

Sam ... I have a busnut friend who lives in Beaver Creek (south edge of Dayton).  He owned a 4106 at one time, and did a great deal of mechanical work on it.  Sold it, but he still is an avid busnut in his current bus conversion.  PM me, I will give you his phone number and e-address. Also look...

Bus to RV a guarded secret??

Is there any wording in the NJ motor vehicle rules about "reclassified" vehicles?  It is a long shot, but go to a vehicle junk yard and ask them how they handle titles for vehicles that have been rebuilt from mismatched VIN and motor numbers.  I believe they use a form to apply for new titles in...

    Conversion photos

OK ... but my snags may not be the same ones you will have.  Just to generalize, I consider an initial plan to be critical to the success of the project.  We measured the available interior space carefully then set down with AutoCAD to build it on screen first.  I mean tiny detailed drawings ...

    Conversion photos

Our bus conversion took a few years, but finally got it the way we want.  Wife and I decided if we wanted a comfortable interior we had to do it ourselves.  Tore out the original interior down to bare ribs then carefully designed and built it back up.  Hopefully we don't have one cubic inch of...

    Bus conversion

Yikes for sure!  That wood burning stove better be bolted down to the bus frame.  I do like the comfortable feel of the interior, but like mentioned ... where's the bathroom?  Outside is likely the answer. One more observation ... that exterior paint color ... uh ... needs to blend more with...

    1964 gm 4106

Just thought I'd drop in to beg for pictures too!  ::). I can spend all day walking past rows and rows of razzel dazzel plastic rigs then when I spot a classic bus conversion I'm drawn to it like moth to a flame.

Really fine body.  It is great to see one that has not been beaten with a hammer.  Looking forward to seeing your interior rehab.  Where in Ohio are you?  I'm in central (NW of Columbus).

    Sun Fading

Yes.  Our bus had Imron but it was starting to peel with sun, and age. Great when it was new, but like all paints it does have a lifespan limit.  At the time it was applied, it was The paint to have. We bit the bullet and took it in for a total full body strip down and fresh paint with two...

    A 60s look for a 60s bus conversion

Excellent use of "classic" materials.  I love the quarter sawn white oak that he used.  Everything about the conversion says ... comfortable. Having done a total bus conversion ourselves, my wife and I appreciate the effort that was obviously put into this one.
