    Stating out kinda big!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new rig!  We bought our first ever RV 5 years ago and started off with a new 40DP so you're not alone! Best of luck Rick

    Satallite Dish suggestions..pro's/con's?

You don't mention if HD is important to you.  If so, a dome will limit you to Dish Network... which is not really an issue.  We have DirecTv and use the Winegard SK3005 auto rooftop dish.  It's a very popular dish and for very good reason... but it's not cheap and probably costs close to $1700...

    Time to "suck it up"?

Thanks Ed but no need to look farther.  I didn't realize we were talking about a Canadian citizen owning property in the US. Thanks to the others for chiming in on whether or not we'd be able to choose if the coach or the stick house is our primary residence.  We just bought the townhouse...

    Time to "suck it up"?

In 2007 I sold my stick house in California after 25 years there.  Got my check at close of escrow with no mention of withholding. Rick

    Time to "suck it up"?

This will be interesting as it unfolds.  The loan on my coach is larger than the one on my stick house and at a much higher rate.  I wonder if I'll be able to choose which is my "primary" for tax purposes. Rick

Socializing in RV parks - is it just my experience so far?

Interesting discussion.  Two points come to mind: 1) As has been pointed out, many big rigs are home to their owners and are very nice homes at that so those of us who are "travelers" rather than "campers" choose to spend a lot of time inside.  That shouldn't cause others to judge us as...

    Handleling, Diesel rigs VS. Gas

I couldn't agree more.  I'm one who purchased a brand new DP... drove it 6000 miles and then took it to Henderson's in Grant's Pass, Oregon to have $2200 in after market "upgrades".  Bellcrank, Motion Control Units, Safe T Plus, and steering gear adjustments all resulted in a tremendous...

    Boondocking SCARE

We're not boondockers and I'm not a big gun guy.  However, I can't imagine being in a boondock environment without having a firearm.  Even then it would have been interesting to see how your situation would have played out.  I guess telling him through the door that you want to see ID and that...

    Fulltimer's Insurance. YIKES!!!

We've been with Progressive (through an agent in Livingston, Tx) for two years now with a full timers policy with high liability limits... but high deductables too.  We've been about $1500/yr on a 2007 DP. Just bought a townhouse to serve as a base so I'm hoping I'll save a few bucks going the...

Satisfaction with Coleman Road Trip LXE Grill ?

We've liked our fine for over 4 years now.  I have had some success cooking with the lid down but turned the heat down a bit.  I did replace the grates this summer though.  Rick

New ShurFlo 3.0 GPM water pump

Thanks for the report Sarge.  My system is the same as your old one so it's good to hear.  I can't believe how I can barely hear my water pump when I'm outside the coach but it sounds like a 747 inside.  Another project for me! Rick

Driving the $1.56M Newell P2000i RV

I love McCall too.  I used to live about 100 miles south of there just off of hwy 55 near Eagle.  Coeur d Alene is very beautiful too and much larger I believe.  We're at Blackwell Island RV Park.  It's right on the water with great amenities.  A bit pricey at ~$50/night but it's in a big resort...

Driving the $1.56M Newell P2000i RV

We're currently at a nice park in Coeur d Alena, Idaho and we were talking about this just last night.  Why is that million dollar coaches don't seem to get dirty?!?  I haven't seen any Newells here yet but there are a LOT of very nice very high end rigs and they're all spotless!  My poor Winnie...
