Using a 2 wheel tow dolly

I would add that I would never dolly tow a car without safety chains attached to the car's frame.  While the wheel straps are designed to hold the car in place, the safety chains provide a back-up in the event of catastrophic failure (accident, strap damage, etc). I installed short lengths of...

Using a 2 wheel tow dolly

There is no connection between the rear wheels and the front wheels so it seems pointless to put the transmission in neutral if the front wheels are off the ground and secured to the dolly with wheel straps, but if Honda requires you to do that you probably should to avoid any warranty issues.

Using a 2 wheel tow dolly

I dolly tow a 2016 Fit with automatic transmission.  As noted, put transmission in park to secure the front wheels on the dolly.  My dolly does not have swivel plates so I leave the key in the ignition in the "off" position after running the engine. This keeps the steering unlocked.  If your...

    Kayaks for 10 months

I have an inflatable kayak that I always keep stored in a basement storage compartment of the motorhome.  Depending on how tight you are for storage space, this is an option to consider.  The inflatable folds up to the size of a large backpack.  It is also easy to carry in my small towed car...

2011 or newer Vista 35B - Noise levels

Ours is a 2014 Vista 35F with 5-speed tranny that we purchased new.  In my opinion, a lot depends on the terrain you will be travelling.  On flat or rolling terrain, noise levels are not an issue and don't interfere with normal conversation.  On hilly terrain, the tranny downshifts to increase...

    Changing Bulb in Map Lights

I contacted Winnebago and received the following reply: "That map reading light comes as one piece assembly."

    Changing Bulb in Map Lights

Looking for advice on how to change the LED bulb in the map lights over the driver and passenger seats.  These are the oval-shaped ones on a flexible arm with the switch on the top.  I can't figure out how to get the lens cover off.  Thanks for any tips.

    Newcomer from Bonita

Welcome to the forum.  Lots of good information here. I have the Ford V10 and also noticed a small scorched section on the engine oil dipstick.  I was a little concerned but I read somewhere on the forum that this is a common thing caused by the upper section of the dipstick tube being in close...

Dolly/trailer towing - where to store at CG's

We've been dolly towing for 2 years and have yet to encounter a campground where the dolly could not be kept on the campsite.  We stay at private campgrounds so I can't comment on state/national parks. We sometimes get pull-thru sites and leave the dolly attached (preferable), but often detach...

Need Inverter Info - 2002 Adventurer

As others have said, no worries.  We have made the ferry crossing to/from Newfoundland several times with the fridge shut off (Norcold 1200) without any thawing problems.  We make sure everything in the freezer is well frozen before departure and don't open the fridge doors once propane is...

    Dolly Tie-Down Straps Too Long

Gary, thanks again for the link.  I will see if they have something to fit.

    Dolly Tie-Down Straps Too Long

Gary - thank you for the comments. My preference is also to get a set of straps small enough to fit snugly without modification.  I haven't had any luck locating them.  It seems they only come in standard size (which I have), x-large for the bigger tires, and adjustable (which I had originally...

    Dolly Tie-Down Straps Too Long

Grashley - thanks for the suggestion.  We are presently stationary in Florida for the winter months so it will be April before I can work on the straps again. Bill - thanks for the link to the ACME video.  The straps that ACME supplied with the dolly have adjustable main straps and adjustable...

Black Tank Macerator Pump Flow Rate

I'm not familiar with the workings of an electric/macerator toilet. My rig has regular rv toilets that drain by gravity into the black tanks.  When full, I pump the front black tank out to the sewer discharge by using the installed macerator pump located just below the tank.  To my knowledge...

    Dolly Tie-Down Straps Too Long

I dolly tow a Honda Fit on an ACME EZE Tow dolly.  The outside diameter of the 16" low profile tires on the Honda is very small and the typical 14-16" tire size basket tie-down straps available tend to be too long and cannot be tightened enough before bottoming out on the ratchet mechanism. I'm...
