Another F-150 question - new guy...

Mine does the push-pull when lightly loaded to and from the storage lot.  Once we have clothes and everything in the trailer for the trip, it tows just fine.  Before you make any adjustments to your hitch, get your trailer set up for what you expect will be a normal trip.  It may tow differently...

    2019 F250 Trailer Set Up

One of the helpful items of that little feature is keeping track if you have multiple trailers.  It will keep track of mileage which is nice for service intervals on bearings and whatnot.  It's also smart enough to know the difference between 4 pin and 7 pin, and I believe it will remember what...

    2018 F150 Towing Capacity Help

There's a lot of good info in this thread, but this is incorrect.  The advantage of turbocharging is that the torque ramps up much faster than a naturally aspirated engine.  To the OP, if you're looking at the ecoboost, I would strongly suggest going to the 3.5L.  The 2.7L is good, and...

    Travel Trailer recommendations

We bought a rockwood mini lite 2509S for all the reasons you listed.  Very happy with it.

New Brake pad & rotor suggestions

On my 13 F150 I replaced the fronts and rears with Power stop pads and carquest platinum painted rotors at 30,000 miles.  The pads had some life left, but the rotors warped.  I've heard this was a common issue and I haven't had to replace any brake components that fast since high school when my...

Funny Story about "too much trailer for the truck"

Mine too.  When I was looking, I knew I would be buying a new truck.  I had an older f150 at the time that had about 500lbs less payload than my current.  As we went to one of the larger, heavier trailers we were interested in, he immediately said "you aren't going to be able to tow this with a...

    Two Things

I'll respectfully disagree on the wax comment.  There are tons of synthetic sealants out there that wipe on and wipe off easily, and will last for months longer than a traditional carnuba wax.  Even with carnuba, if you're having to work to take it off, you're using too much and wasting product.

Coleman Trailers Lantern series or LT series? Whats the difference?

I don't think there is such a thing.  There are some that are considered better like Airstream and Grand Design but here's the thing: They're all owned by the same 3 larger companies, and they all use the same stuff inside.  They all have pretty bad quality control for something that's getting...

Is a 30 to 50 amp adaptor needed sometimes

I consider the adapters as essential as a dump hose.  I also carry a good quality extension cord to use with the 15 amp outlets on the pedestal so I can plug in stuff outside and not use the trailer.

    Averting a disaster...

Already have a bak revolver x4.  That 20mpg is coming with 3.55 gears, and LT E rated All Terrain tires. I traded in a 13 F150 with 3.5eb and a tow package (not quite max tow) and 3.31 gears.  The gen 2 ecoboost, and 10speed transmission are giving me better combined gas mileage than the other...

    Averting a disaster...

We just went through this.  I was debating the 150/250 thing having traded my 2013 in for a truck with more payload.  I went with the 150.  When I did, I looked at my wife and said "will you be ok with the Rockwood 2509S?  Getting a 150 will rule out several trailers we are looking at".  She was...

    Trailer Tire replacement

I wouldn't consider the jack with the truck sufficient to jack up the truck either.  Go get a bottle jack, and a 4 way tire iron so you're covered.  While you're getting all the work done on your trailer, it wouldn't be a bad idea to pull the cover off the spare and check that, along with...

1/2 Ton Safe Travel Trailer Length

OP: I think you're in the right range for a 1/2 ton truck.  Don't bother with dry weight, it's a useless number.  I've yet to see a camper that is at the published dry weight.  My Rockwood Minilite 2509S is about 65lbs over the manufacturer's UVU published on the website based on taking the dry...

    GVWR and UVW questions....

No amount of money spent will bring your current explorer up to the higher weight ratings.  You're stuck where you're at with it.  Even if you could upgrade everything and magically have an increased tow rating, you'd spend just as much doing that as you would buying a used truck capable of...

How often to wash & wax

Parasitic drag is real.  Cleaning the bug guts off the wings of an airplane will gain a couple MPH for a given power setting.
