OK....convince me that I should buy a Trailer vs staying in VRBO's or hotels....

I'll echo all that has been posted. RV-ing is an experience that is different for most people. I love it because I hate flying to travel, have severe allergies that make it a challenge to stay in hotels (I'm even allergic to fabric softeners), I love driving, and because I am a creature of...

    Thinking I need to upgrade

I believe in having plenty of truck rather than having one that is "rated" to do the job, but in reality is barely adequate. I currently own a 9500lb fiver that I formerly pulled with a 5.9L 12-valve Cummins 3/4 ton when I first purchased the trailer. As far as I am concerned, it barely was...

    GPS recommendations (Garmin?)

You didn't do anything wrong - unfortunately Google maps do not "remember" drag changes when sent to another device. The work around is to add a city or other  stop point on your route and Google will send the correct route to your device. I like to use back roads, so I usually need to add...

    GPS recommendations (Garmin?)

A no cost solution if you already have a tablet (I have a Samsung Tab2), is using it as a navigation device. I set my route using Google Maps on my PC, then send the route link to my tablet. When I open the map on my tablet, I get the option to download the map route to the tablet so I can use...

    Ram 3500

I've owned a 1996 12-valve Cummins that leaked rainwater into the cabin every time it rained - no one was able to find the source of the leak, but otherwise, it was a fine rig. I now have a 2012 Cummins 6.7L which I really liked until recently. Everything about it was stellar - interior...

Personal travel information on the internet

There are a few rules I follow when doing anything online, especially social media of any kind. Use Opera browser with Adguard advertisement blocker. It lets me block all Facebook (and any other) advertisements so I never even see them. I can literally click the offending item on the screen...

    Tattoos

Well, my eldest son a member of Naval special forces on his fifth combat deployment right now, and he has never expressed a desire to advertise anything on his body. I cannot express how much I admire him for that attitude.

    Tattoos

I'm an old guy, but when I was a kid the only people that had the degree of tattooing I see today are the people in the freak shows, usually called something like "the tattooed lady". I personally do not esthetically appreciate any tattoo I have ever seen (except perhaps the military tattoos)...

    need a cleaning product idea

This might be kind of dicey because of the danger of bleaching unintended things, but whenever I have the black mold of any kind, I use a dilute solution of bleach, and the black mold disappears within an hour or so depending on how many applications I do. I use this method every spring when I...

Sure-fire way to save a FORTUNE on Amazon.

I too read mainly the one-star reviews, but am nor rethinking my strategy. Because of the recent scandal (surprised anyone? it seems to be the mainstay of our purchasing these days), I am now also wary of the one-star reviews. For those that might not be up to date on this scandal, it involves...

Newly retired and entering the camping/fishing world

I retired early a couple of years ago, and love it. In fact, my wife who was not scheduled to retire until she was 62 decided to retire a couple of months ago because she saw how much fun I was having. What a great time we are having with this game changing decision. Best of luck in your...

Need some help with our broken rear view camera system...PLEASE

We went with a Furion wireless system, but you need to be careful when selecting. A "backup camera" is designed for a car and does not have the range needed for an RV. If you go with a camera with a 100-foot range, it will work great in an RV.

    Current satellite internet options?

We have AT&T cell phone service, and DirectTv satellite at home. Because we have both, the package allows us to watch anything DirectTv with no limits (no charge to data on the phone), and we Chromecast the phone to the TV.

    Dometic Thermostat alternative?

We replaced ours with a Honeywell alternative, and it was virtually plug and play. However, you need to be careful when making the selection of the unit because some are designed only for home use. Ours uses a couple of AAA batteries for powering the thermostat.

    Dying at Yosemite

Reminds me of the same kind of foolishness as the people chasing down bison in Yellowstone just to get a picture.
