    Hydraulic fan speed controll

It is great news. This has taken a lot of my time, and given I was simultaneously dealing with a failing Alison 3060 TCM during a recent two week trip, I was not in the best of spirits. Now that the TCM has been rebuilt, and will soon regain company with the coach, I can begin the cooling...

    Hydraulic fan speed controll

Success. Les at Freightliner emailed me the schematics for the chassis electrical and the hydraulic schematics as well. And, as I suspected, there is a fan control module. Actually there are two, though they work opposite of one another: if one is energized, there is flow. If the other one is...

    Hydraulic fan speed controll

Gary, Excellent points you bring up. What I believe is going on is some type of lock/unlock system. Almost like the hydraulic fan motor is acting like a viscous coupling. In the unlocked  state, I think the fan spins slowly as a result of fluid passing lazily through the valve block...

    Hydraulic fan speed controll

Also of note, the cooling system does not appear to have been changed or modified, at least from all outward appearances. But again, without any schematic, I have no way to confirm this. What I do have are service records dating back to the second owner. I?ve seen no reference to any cooling...

    Hydraulic fan speed controll

Ok, I have more information... There is no fan clutch. The fan is directly mounted to the hydraulic motor. What I have is a valve block that takes pressurized fluid from the pump, diverts it to the fan, steering, and brakes. From the valve block it passed through a filter, into the reservoir...

Exactly Henry! Now to find out why the fan isnt getting it right!

    Hydraulic fan speed controll

Some clarification here... Firstly, I am well aware of how and why a fan clutch operates, but thank you for the suggestions. I?ve been a mechanic for 30 years, though my specialty is 50?s-70?s GM. I did rebuild the engine in this rv a few years ago; liners, slugs, rings, big end bearings. But...

    sliding roof

Ok, so I recently picked up a 36' Fleetwood diesel pusher (up from a 30' bounder, and there from a 20' class C) Suffice it to say I am hooked, and will never own anything but a diesel. (I've owned morning but Cummins powered dodge trucks since 1999, and have amassed almost 800k miles between...

generator start button trips DC breaker

It's tripping the DC control breaker. Just below that is the DC charging breaker, and a pop-out breaker, both of which are unaffected. To the left is the 30A breaker, which is also unaffected. The circuits are located remotely from the genset, right above the propane tank.

generator start button trips DC breaker

Hello all! It's been quite some time since I was here last. So much has happened (all good), that I have been quite busy. Anyway, I moved up to a Fleetwood Pace Arrow 36' diesel pusher. It's a great coach, in near perfect condition. Of course any coach this old is bound to have some minor...

    Post a joke

A pirate goes to the doctors office complaining of a pain in his groin. The doctor takes a look and says to the pirate "there's a steering wheel in your pants." The pirate says "aargg, I know, and it be driving me nuts! "

atwood g6a 4e odd intermittent issue

The contacts on the board looked sketchy, so I tinned them with some solder. I removed each connector from the harness, pried the tang up so that it would make a strong contract with the circuit board, and reinstalled it. Still firing erratically. Grrr.... There are two sensors below the...

atwood g6a 4e odd intermittent issue

Hello everyone. I have an Atwood G6A 4E water heater that has a very odd intermittent ignition problem. First off all, I have downloaded the owners manual, and followed all the troubleshooting guides. The problem seems to be with the ignition board. I cleaned all the contacts both one the...
