Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

Sorry for questioning then.. I just didn't have luck with acetone.. From what I remember, it removed the paint from the aluminum, but that was years ago.

Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

Been there, tried acetone. Silicone rubber is a cross linked polymer and cannot be dissolved in anything without first breaking chemical bonds. Since acetone is relatively inert, it will not break any chemical bonds and won’t dissolve it either. Acetone will swell silicone making it stand...

Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

What solvent wipes dried silicone off?

Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

You contradicted yourself. Removal is very difficult. I tried all the tricks, and what worked was soaking with mineral spirits to make it swell, and then a big eraser. Even a thin remaining film of silicone will prevent new silicone from sealing. Now thinking back, featherlite used a caulk...

Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

Thanks everyone. I have to be honest. I learned about how new silicone will not adhere to old on RV forums.. You have to remove every last smidgen in order for the new silicone to be watertight. So I used Geocel Pro Flex on my old featherlite TH after DAYS of silicone removal, where if...

Caulk that is soluble with mineral spirits?

Hello folks. Ive know new silicone caulk will not adhere to old and have avoided it like the plague since then, also considering how difficult it is to remove it. Which type of caulk can you remove with mineral spirits and elbow grease? If memory serves me right, Geocel Pro Flex did.. Thanks

Propane 3 way Adsorption Refrigerator's and what Ive learned so far..

Thanks Madcow, but have you owned a adsorption refrigerator?  I should consider a compressor fridge, but most of the people saying they like them have full hookups and stay in campgrounds.   I haven't heard any full time boondockers say they liked a 12v DC compressor off grid more than a...

Propane 3 way Adsorption Refrigerator's and what Ive learned so far..

Thanks Gary.. Great link. The ST and T rating discussion I found this morning was on a australian van forum so I just realize the values were in celsius .  I hadn't, and imagine most people had never heard of climate classes, but maybe some of the warm or under performing fridges are caused by...

Propane 3 way Adsorption Refrigerator's and what Ive learned so far..

Thanks everyone.. I was so happy with a 7 cubic foot Norcold 3 way in my old featherlite that I want another.  I never shut it off and it ran on propane for weeks..  Never 12v. But I'm not sure if my norcold was rated S or T..  Has anyone even heard of that rating, or did the manufactures...

Time Estimate to Re-level park model

I just leveled a 16x80 that was 5" out of level.  It was so low I couldn't even sit upright so needless to say, it sucked.. Ask them what tool they use to level.  If it's anything other than a water level keep looking.  If whoever leveled the trailer initially didn't use a water level, you...

Propane 3 way Adsorption Refrigerator's and what Ive learned so far..

Hello everyone.  I'm in the design phase for a cargo trailer to toyhauler conversion I will be boondocking in 6-8 months a year.    I'm researching propane 3 way adsorption refrigerator's now.. The complaints Ive read about usually include propane refrigerators that are side vented, or units...

Best RV windows/doors for new build?

I'm actually considering converting a new live stock trailer built by K & O or Pace Setter.  I love the 20 gauge roof walls and doors.  But the angle iron "livestock" frame I don't agree with.

Best RV windows/doors for new build?

Budget would allow them, but I'm undecided if the trade off from laminated is worth it.  It seems the majority of RV windows are made by Hehr. The higher the number series, the better?

Best RV windows/doors for new build?

Hello everyone. I'm having a custom cargo trailer built to convert, and the builder will allow me to supply windows and door.. If you were in my position, which brand and series would you choose? Thanks!

Silicone.. Any manufactures NOT using it?

Thanks Kevin..  I should add that "I read" Newmar uses silicone because I'm not sure..  But I am sure Featherlite uses it, or maybe it was the company that installed the interior "premier"..  Anywho.  I spent days removing silicone off my featherlite.  I think it would be a great selling...
