    Camper for Dodge Ram 1500

Hi all.  I currently have a 2003 Ram 1500 crew cab with 4.7 V8 and factory tow package.  I've upgraded the shocks to Monroe self adjusting with the coils around the shocks in the rear for a little extra payload capacity. We tow our Coleman Santa Fe Popup camper with it as well as two dirt bikes...

    No AC Power In Trailer

Thank you i really appreciate your responses! It is a portable generator. I did reset the breakers several times.  After posting, i went to remove the GFI switch to match it up with one from Home Depot.  After removing it from the wall but before removing the wires, I did one last check and...

    No AC Power In Trailer

We just got home from a trip with our 2006 Fleetwood Santa Fe popup with World Friendship Co WF-8725-P converter.  We have never had an issue until now and all of the AC outlets inside and outside of the trailer quit working.  I may have overloaded it by trying to run the AC at the same time as...

Why does my battery die so fast?

Thanks to all for the great information!  I thought about doing two golf cart batteries but didn't think I needed quite that much power and didn't want the added cost or tongue weight.  As it is with two propane tanks and one battery, my tongue weight is already about 350 lbs.  I wish I could...

Why does my battery die so fast?

I have a 2006 Fleetwood Santa Fe Pup that we've had out on 4 trips now.  This is my first camper and I've got everything pretty well figured out except for one thing.  My battery drains really fast.  It was over four years old and not taking a charge anymore so I installed a new group 27 deep...

How do I know if my water heater is full?

So glad I found this forum... you guys are very helpful!  Thanks!  One more question.  I need to buy a new extension cord.  Is there any reason why I need to buy an expensive 30 amp rv cord or can I just buy a standard 50 ft extension cord to work with the 30amp adapter I already have?  Will a...

How do I know if my water heater is full?

Thanks for all the tips!  My manual says it is for the 7900, 8012, 8500, and 8900.  Can't tell which one because I can't access the inside of my trailer while it's in my garage.  However the manual says "this appliance is equipped with an ignition device which automatically lights the burner. ...

How do I know if my water heater is full?

Thanks, both of your responses were incredibly helpful!  I opened the relief valve and water came out so that seems like a good sign.  The heater is a Suburban SW6P which I don't think has a bypass valve, but maybe someone can verify that for me.  The furnace is an Atwood Hydroflame.  Sounds...

How do I know if my water heater is full?

I just purchased a 2006 Fleetwood Santa Fe and have only had it out once so far.  I wasn't able to light the water heater, but after doing some reading online it looks like I just need to leave the pilot on for a few minutes before lighting to get the propane flowing.  When reading the...

Adding a second propane tank to my Fleetwood Popup

I have a cargo carrier on the back of the trailer for firewood, small generator, etc that should offset some of the weight on the tongue so I'm really not worried about tongue weight.  I've already made the decision to add the extra tank, just want to make sure the tee will work and if so will...

Should I hook up the trailer brakes and sway controller on my pop up?

UTTransplant, I have had many trailers over the years and never knew having brakes was a requirement.  Thanks for the info! Gary, I appreciate your feedback.  Since the adapter for the sway control is only $30-40, might as well get it since it adds some safety and I'll have my wife and 2 year...

Should I hook up the trailer brakes and sway controller on my pop up?

No laws as far as I know in California that require brakes on small trailers.  Guess it would be good to have for an emergency situation.  As far as sway control, just wasn't sure if maybe pop ups sway more because of them being short and wide with small tires.  Never had an issue with other...

Adding a second propane tank to my Fleetwood Popup

I don't think I'll be a heavy user, just seems nice to have so I don't have to think about it.  $25 for a tank and $20 for the tee and an extra hose, why not?  You never know when we'll get into some cold weather and need to use the furnace.
