    propane

I typically do not activate the auto switch over valve (from one tank to another).  When the gas appliance does not work then I manually switch it to the fresh full tank.  That way I am not caught with two empty tanks. If I get curious how much propane I have left in the tank that is currently...

    Filling 5er Propane Tanks

I like to keep mine filled when on the road.  Love's and Flying J travel centers fill them while still in my 5th wheel.  They charge by the gallon and not by weight so no need to take them out.  They have a semi-long hose that they use to fill the tanks.

I smell propane outside the rig

I also had a propane leak that you could sporadically smell near one of the tanks.  I soap tested and could not find it.  Eventually, we were awakened in the middle of the night to the gas alarm and smell of gas within the RV.  I shut the propane off and did a more thorough soap test the next...

Should I switch to a synthetic oil??

Mobil 1 does make a version of their oil for older/higher mileage vehicles with a conditioner in it to soften/renew the gaskets or seals to reduce oil seeping and  leaking.  I have used it and it is about the same cost as Mobil 1 in the other versions.  I get mine at WalMart. I have used Mobil...

Truck Bed Covers retractable vs roll up

I have the Truxedo low profile roll up top.  It works fine for me.  Never in the way.  Retractables are nice, but the cassette hanging down in the bed by the cab might steal a little bit of room that I am not willing to give up yet.

    Branded vs Unbranded Gasoline

Thanks for the informative post Joe.  You answered the longtime question I've had about Tier 1 brands vs. the others.  I always try to buy a Tier 1 brand when possible.  Yes, I probably over "medicate" my vehicle's--I know. I have always liked to use Shell premium in my Tundra.  (Please no...

    Jackson hole

We stayed 3-4 nights at Teton Valley RV Park in Victor, Idaho.  About 25 miles from Jackson Hole (per their website).  Seemed closer than that but you do have to climb a pass to and from Jackson Hole. The park has full hook ups and is nicely cared for.  I can't remember the price we paid in...

    Charging the house battery

If you start a new thread with the subject/topic about your electrical problem you will get more responses--rather than tag it on, as it is now, under a propane issue.

Mid kitchen Vs rear kitchen in 5th wheel

We too were attracted to a rear kitchen model for layout and counter space (not to mention it has a lighter pin weight).  The wife strategically prepares for road travel by how things are arranged in the cabinets and using a few place-mats between glass items. We broke a glass one time.  If...

What to do with remaining caulking.

Sounds like a good tip I will definitely try next time.  I usually do what Moparman does and insert a long screw/wire/rod in the tip that extends past the tip into the body of the caulk.  That way if the caulk in the tip solidifies I still have a "hole" down into the body of the unspoiled caulk...

    Short Bed 5th wheel options

The Reese Revolution pin hitch came standard equipment on my Rockwood 8280ws.  I have a 6.5 ' long bed in the Tundra truck.  I have been able to turn it a little sharper than 90 degrees without touching.  That sharp of a turn is always last resort though. The Reese sidewinder is same/similar...

    Surge Protectors

I did not find it that hard to wire in.  However, I have done handyman wiring around my house for years. I have the same unit you are looking at.  The space/location of your main power box could be the hardest part to deal with.  Do some searches on line about this unit and you can even find a...

    Oxygenics Shower heads

Here is a better link: http://oxygenics.com/shower_heads/bodyspa-hh-w-sp-kit/ Looks like they are only available in chrome, white, or brushed nickel.  We bought the nickel one and a good improvement over the original one.  However, they do make other styles than the one like this that most...

Update on our stolen but now found travel trailer

Thank you for that update.  It helps me understand physically what you encountered and emotionally what you were going through and feeling. It is reasonable and easy to understand why you no longer feel comfortable in the recovered trailer.  Best wishes to you and husband as you look for a new one!

    moisture in my tail lights

My vote is to install it trough up as designed.  Of course it will have a slight angle to divert the water away-correct?  Surface tension of the water will only allow that "sheet" of water to be only so thick.  Are you sure you even need to apply the gutter?  The light housing will still be...
