Thanks everyone! I'm hoping it truly is as simple as just replacing the outlet (that will certainly be the cheapest option!) and will pass on the info to the "RV Maintenance Man" (my poor beleaguered hubby ;D )
The two outlets in the kitchen that won't turn back on are labeled GFI but don't have any sort of reset switch on them. Only the one in the bathroom has the reset.
I made the mistake of using the blowdryer in the bathroom (GFI) and tripped the circuit breaker. We reset the circuit breaker, reset the GFI and the power came back on to the outlet in the bathroom. BUT, the GFI outlets in the kitched did not (they are on the same circuit breaker, and now I...
I did pull up the tip-up unit...but no luck on finding "things to fix" ;)
Other items on the slide (TV, DVD player, computer printer) do have power, it just happened that the fireplace was on (without the heat, obviously) and the tuner was on (listenting to radio) when the storm hit. We'll...
Thanks for the fuse idea on the fireplace. The biggest frustration with that is that there is no easy way to look above/under/around the unit. It's located in the same slide with the TV (perhaps why the tuner died, too - same location) but it's behind a "mantle" (basically the wood frame will...
Thanks for the suggestion on an auto parts store for the 3M tapes - I will probably try that next since all the really good liquid adhesives are so messy to work with!
I can't speak to your specific model of Gulf Stream but we have the 2008 Prairie Schooner and really like it. We bought it used from one of my work colleagues and aside from a few small issues (the Dometic microwave died but was replaced under warranty and a lightning strike has us going nuts...
Our gasket has done the exact same thing - and there are no screws holding it on. I've recently bought some Devcon Rubber Adhesive based on the recommendations of my local hardware store, but haven't tried it out yet. Devcon makes another product called zip grip (I found it on their website)...
Thanks so much everybody! Your feedback on diagnosing was invaluable. After breaking TWO craftsman wrenches (it was obviously installed with an airgun) the converter was finally removed and replaced and power seems to now be fully restored. Whoo Hoo! In an interesting twist of fate, two things...
Thanks everyone for the info and the suggestions to find/replace/make-do. We've contacted the local RV repair place (open today but no technicians on duty) and they gave us info over the phone on the likely converter location (they say behind the circuit breaker panel) and the hubby is going to...
Thanks for the heads up. There is a local (within 20 miles) RV repair place, but their technicians don't appear to work weekends; we'll call them too. The electrician is technically a yacht repair person who has helped us with the RV before and he DOES work weekends (plus he owes us a free...
Our 2008 Prairie Schooner received an indirect (we think) lightning strike while we were camping (full hoook-ups). We saw extensive St. Elmo's Fire dancing across the ceiling and it killed our fireplace, computer monitor and stereo tuner - but we thought everything else was OK. It took a few...
