New candidate for the stupid mistake award!

Bummer man! Okay here's my Stupid Mistake confession: A couple years ago, before I owned a trailer or RV of any type, a bunch of friends and I rented an RV for a vacation trip. None of us had any experience with such a rig (just a little 32' class-C.. nothing crazy here) so we relied on...

    Using a 5er with a gooseneck adapter?

Cool, thanks for your responses! Sounds to me (and had I done a quick search for 'gooseneck' before making this post...!) that it's an okay thing to do, it will work, a lot of people do it for various reasons. If I do end up going with a 5er for my next trailer, I'll probably go that route. I...

    Using a 5er with a gooseneck adapter?

Hi friends, I reciently upgraded my tow vehicle from a F150 to a F250 V10, much better for towing my tow-behind 26' toy hauler! When I bought it, it already had airbags in the rear, and a gooseneck style hitch in the bed (that's what they call the kind that is a normal ball in the bed, instead...

    AC overloaded-now nothing

The only thing I can suggest is, since those fridges are based completely on heat convection for the flow through those tubes (no compressor or pumps like a traditional home fridge), If it was left out of level for a long period, and was attempting to be ran, it would operate very poorly or...

Aluminum siding - how to replace a damaged panel? material suppliers?

Hi guys, I had an unfortunate run-in with high winds on our last outting, that resulted in one of the panels on my trailer being damaged. The wind managed to work one of the panels just loose enough on the front edge, catch under it, and pulled it out several feet. Roadside, I was able to duct...

    refrigerator question

Some condensation is normal however, and will not hurt your refigerator. Many fridges, mine for example :D have a tray with a drain tube, which you will find the end of that drain underneith the cover outside your trailer. 2 cents :D

    It's probably here someplace.....differences between a 2500LD and 2500HD

Carl is correct (as always  ;D  ) to clarify the terms though, HD = Heavy Duty, LD = Light Duty. what you observed is basically the only differences - load-rated wheels and tires, and stiffer leaf springs. Typically the HD models offer the DuraMax Diesel engine, as opposed to the 5.3L gas V8 (or...

    I'm really nervous now?what a mess

I ran this by my dad, who is a lawyer, he says it is extremely common for situations like this to arise when there is nothing in writing. Legally, your deposit is fully-refundable before said date, but, like insurance companies, they are not in the business of giving money away. if they can just...

Very close to buying a trailer but can we tow it??? Need towing capacity help.

LOL... touche' Mr. Carl :) Well, I'd love to stay and chat, but I have to go load up my trailer and head up the mountain for the weekend....  Ciao!

Very close to buying a trailer but can we tow it??? Need towing capacity help.

Adding in my two cents, having been there quite reciently (see my recient posts regarding 'can I pull this 26' trailer with my 1/2 ton?'). I had a 01 F150 SuperCrew, rated to pull 8,000 lbs. As calculated, my 26' toy hauler, dry at 6,600 lbs, with all my goodies would squeak in at just under the...

    OK to Leave Refrigerator On?

What is the breaking point on that practice though? If you are going to be taking your rig out once a month, I assume leave it running, but if you are planning to store it for several months, is it better to go ahead and power it off and air it out?

    '01 F-150 SuperCrew - pulling a 26' 5,800# dry toy hauler.. advice??

Very true Carl, and I didnt realize you meant a factory 'racked' truck ;) I really wasnt trying to pick a fight with you!! My overall point was, any changes to a tow vehicle, as you have said, have to be very carefully researched and calculated, not just "eh... that'll work" or "that'll look...

Hmmm.. Dont know if I should ask this....

Good to know, thanks as always Gary! As far as battery life, I'll just try it and see! I did not realize the LPG was so efficient. My root question still remains: It is in fact better for the fridge's components and lifetime to be running constantly? and is there a breaking point on that -...
