What was the name of the French guy who invented beach sandals? Phillipe Phillope

    Tattoos

Currently, tattoos are an 'in thing', so you see a lot of them. When people, especially young people, are doing something that is 'in', they will make sure that it can and will be seen. Everyone has done something along those lines before, but some of the newer 'in things' are more permanent...

    A Very Strange Scam

What I said is that it is incredibly hard to stop these calls, once they start. If you haven't been getting them, good for you, but that clearly, obviously, isn't the case for many. Once a number becomes known, and hits the list of numbers sold to these d-bags, then it is really difficult to...

Have Been Afraid Of This For Years

The references are often really good, and one can really fall down the rabbit hole, so to speak, following one cite to another. For speed, that's the single best feature; the writeups themselves are sometimes less than stellar, but the references are usually nails.

    A Very Strange Scam

What has helped me is that most spammers try to use the same area code as who they are calling, to trick people into answering a call that isn't identified from their phone list. I've kept my number after a number of moves (since there are no more roaming or long distance charges, and I can...

    Still Puzzled

Mine was the opposite: I was driving late at night after an ice storm in Austin, in a small Chevy two-door, when I decided that it was silly to keep going, and pulled off the road into a parking lot to wait for morning. I awoke to a police officer knocking on the window, saying that the...

    Cows

We live in a small town that has a number of cattle ranches in the area. Right after we moved in, had a knock on the door, and it was the local police. They asked if we had seen any cows walking down the street... lol. Apparently a few had gotten out, and were out looking for a night on the...

Have Been Afraid Of This For Years

For some time, it was true that Wiki was not a very reliable source, but they have really cleaned up their act, and things seem to get checked quickly after addition. Apparently to the extent that it is now usable as a reference source for college papers...

    Paradise?

I understand that that is what you think, but the reality is that they would not have made a difference. This is a tragedy that is really not about politics, although there are questions about how to best manage that particular environment that are germane.

    Restaurant Calories

I like the adage that 'calories count, but you don't have to count calories'. I don't know how or when I'll go, but I don't see the point in being the healthiest corpse in the morgue... ;)

If money was absolutely no object??

Just regarding Rving...?  Hmmm. Maybe just make an upgrade in the diesel truck; I like the Powerstroke, but I wouldn't mind something new. For the 5W, I'd probably stick with it; we both like it, and I doubt we'd be any happier with something different. I don't think that it would affect our...

Kavanaugh sits on RV case at SCOTUS

Not sure that I understand your point; are you saying that most carjackings occur when the vehicle is unoccupied? Because that isn't carjacking, but vehicle theft. Carjacking occurs when the car is taken from someone who is occupying (as a driver) the vehicle...

Kavanaugh sits on RV case at SCOTUS

While this might be tongue-in-cheek, I'd say that if it were being driven, which would be the requirement for carjacking, then no. If it is parked with the resident inside when broken into, then that may fit the parameters of home invasion, depending on what the perpetrator does after... but...
