The frame is 4x4 steel all the way back to the 4x4 steel bumper which is welded onto the frame. I do know that the welds are prone to break if too much load it put on them thus the reason for needing additional support/strength. Now, I'm not sure if the 4x4 framing runs the length of the 5er or...
