    Plumbing question!

My kitchen sinks are backed up. (Grrrr...) I've used a plunger, a drain rooter, and vinegar and baking soda. Nothing has worked. I remember being told that you shouldn't use Drano or similar products in RVs. Is that true? Does anyone have any suggestions? Trying not to use an RV tech...too much...

    Battery replacement`

I purchased a new battery.  I'm assuming that I need to turn the "battery disconnect" switch off before installing it.  Is that correct?  Do I also need to flip the main electrical circuit breaker off?  Sorry for maybe "dumb" questions.  ::)  I just don't know.  That's why I'm asking, and I...

    I'm plugged in.  I'm parked.

    Landing Gear Problem

Just had new tires installed.  Guy needed to raise the RV a little.  Worked first time.  Then he had to raise the RV a little more.  NOTHING.  So, maybe it's the battery not having enough power?  I'm purchasing a new one on Tuesday.  The current battery was purchased December 14, 2011!  That's...

    Dying air conditioner?

Thank you all for your suggestions.  I ended up doing...nothing.  :D  I bought a portable evaporative cooler, so I'm going to limp through the summer.  I'll figure it out next summer if I'm still in this RV.  Things might be changing financially when I will purchase a house with a fenced yard...

    Dying air conditioner?

Nope.  The second unit has no ducting...  It's like a window a/c unit only on the ceiling.  LOL

    Dying air conditioner?

It is my neighbor who says it's the capacitor.  The unit works great until it starts pushing 100 degrees.  It works just fine, went all night.  However, the circuit just now tripped, and it's not even noon...99 degrees. He is the person who would be installing the motor start capacitor...

    Dying air conditioner?

Previous years, A-OK!  No problems.  Been in current location since 2012.  Hot, desert.

    Dying air conditioner?

Yeah, it's easy to say, "just get a new unit."  Trying to economize here.  Here's another thought.  I'm one to investigate and research before I go the way ONE person told me to go. (RV tech) I've been reading about capacitors and, apparently, when they start going bad, the same kind of...

    Dying air conditioner?

I'll be paying the guy for the installation.  I only asked if it was possible that freon just needed to be added.  Because when it blows warm air, maybe that's what gets the unit so hot and then trips the breaker.  I'd have to pay for that too, the freon to be added.  Either way, I'm paying.

    Dying air conditioner?

Yep, that's where I am, Nevada.  I'm not traveling.  My RV is parked, has been since 2012.  I don't know what you mean by a "split" AC unit. Thanks.

    Dying air conditioner?

I'm told I need a new air conditioner by my new RV tech.  Just need some opinions about this... I'm guessing that it's the original, so 19 years old (2001).  It seems fine until it gets up over 100 degrees here.  It starts blowing warm air.  Mysteriously, when I turn my manual A/C on in the...

    Algae problem

Thanks to all who replied.  This site is always great! Yes, I'm on a well.  Guess I should have mentioned that one.  Have been on a well three different locations in my town.  I'm parked, no longer travel.  My intake valve has a screened rubber washer.  That's what was clogged up, plus the...

    Algae problem

Do inline filters eliminate algae that are clogging up my water intake valve?  At first, I thought it was the valve that had gone bad.  Last time I had a new one installed, the RV "tech" told me there was a bunch of algae.  If I had been standing there, I would have stopped him from installing...

    Ants! Ants! Everywhere!

Actually, food-grade 35% diatomaceous earth is what should be used.  It was very inexpensive.  I bought it at Star Nursery for $29.95 plus tax, a 50-pound bag.  The food-grade is safe around pets and humans.  I've been using it for years...it will kill exoskeletal insects like ants, roaches...
