Highway 1 is being re-opened on July 20, much sooner than the September predictions that everyone is telling you about. Here is a link to the article: https://www.sanluisobispo.com/news/local/community/cambrian/article214288004.html
I know because I live here!
Update: We traveled from May 1 to 28. We did run into some rainy weather but nothing that put a damper on the trip. As expected, the highways and campgrounds were not crowded and the landscape was definitely green and beautiful. Being off-season, we saw Deadwood when it was really Dead, and...
Thank you for the info! Yes we have a long trip planned, with S. Dakota first, then approaching Glacier National Park from Missoula, Montana on the West side. We have been to Yellowstone and the Tetons, but the GNP is somewhere that we haven't been, so that is the reason. It was sort of an...
As it turns out, we will be doing our traveling in the month of May, so that misses you all around! I would sure like to hear about your trip and what the crowds and traffic is like! Have fun!
We will be approaching from the West side and will be staying at the West Glacier KOA. We do know about the road being closed and have planned other activities in the nearby areas. It sounds like the weather, according to your recommended site, can vary drastically at that time of the year, so...
We are well aware of the highway closure across the park. Our current plan is to stay at the West Glacier KOA and just explore the accessible areas, including Whitefish, etc. We considered the September/October option, but that time of the year is the nicest here at home and we have lots of...
Two bucket list areas. We are still relative newbies at this. We wish to avoid crowds but we enjoy nice weather. We have chains for the RV, but, like CPR, we don't EVER want to use them! We figured that June would be the nicer weather, but with school out we might have to fight for RV sites...
I know this is an old post, but like myself, probably other people might check it out. We have a card game called "Five Crowns" that is really fun. It is like Gin Rummy with 2 decks but there are 5 suits instead of 4 and the wild card changes. 2 people can use just half of the cards, but it...
In the couple of years we have been RVing, we have NEVER had a good wifi connection in a park, no matter how expensive it has been. We have tried a wifi booster, which was a total waste of money. I am considering upgrading my cellular plan to something unlimited and using my phone as a...
Karen - I found your posts today - so Thank You! I will be trying the Predator Pee. Not sure if I need the liquid or the granules. I will read some more. I want the things that you remove the tops and leave in the engine compartment. I can't tell from the web site if those are liquid or...
We just put our brand-new Garmin RV 770 LMT-S to the test. We received the unit on May 16, 2017. We charged it and downloaded all of the current software and maps. Why do I have to choose between FASTEST or SHORTEST? I want LEAST CONGESTED! I did NOT do any of the cell phone programs, like...
Amen to the dry run idea. If your husband has driven buses, he will probably have absolutely no problem. If you forget something, buy it from a Walmart or somewhere with a big parking lot. Problem solved!
I forgot to say that we prefer the smaller highways to the big interstates that are loaded with huge semi-trucks. We also try to avoid driving through big cities, so we go miles out of our way to avoid the stress. If we want to visit a big city, we use the toad.
