Advice for a new RV Motor Home shopper

I started looking for Tiffin and Newmar's but ended up with a great deal on a Foretravel which is a high-end coach also.  Bottom line is look at all then check the background. My 97 Foretravel sold new of $239,000, I got it for just under $22,000 and with new tires and a few repairs I will have...

    Types of Tow Bars

Thanks Gary that is sort of what I was thinking but wasn't sure in today's world.  For coupler style I always carry 2 in my truck, a 2" and a 2 5/16".  I have used the Pintal style but only on military trailers and they always felt like they had a lot of slop to them.  The ball and socket and...

    Types of Tow Bars

I am looking at Tow Bars with a capacity of 10,000 lbs. I see that there can be several types of connection types for the receiver hitch such as Couple, Pintal, Receiver Tube and Ball In Socket. What are your favorites and why. Thanks

Toad capacity of a class III or IV hitch

Thanks Gary The stickers say the curb weight is between 6200 lbs and 7020 lbs. all I see hitches rated at is tongue weight which does not apply much when towing 4 down. The coach I am looking at has a GCWR of 36,000 which I will be about 3,000 lbs under.

Toad capacity of a class III or IV hitch

I am looking at Class A DP's and am wondering what class of hitch is required to tow my 2011 GMC 2500HD? I know Blue Ox has a 10,000 bar that fits a 2" receiver like the  Class III and IV have. Thanks

    1999 Allegro Bus

Thanks RedandSilver, that makes it sort of like the shifter paddle on my GMC. I did finally find the specs on the MD3060 transmission, 275 hp with 800 ft lbs of torque and if bumped up to 300 hp 905 ft lbs.  These numbers sound promising for a 275 hp motor.

    1999 Allegro Bus

Thanks RedandSilver it was a typo as I was in a hurry, had to go setup for  a Scottish Festival here in Kerrville Tx "LOL" I dont mind going slow up hill because there would probably be a semi ahead of me.  I will have to figure out the shifter on it to see if I can down shift on the fly.

    1999 Allegro Bus

Thanks Utahclaimjumper my biggest concern was probable the 65mph governor, i normally tow my trailer at 62-65 I was not wild about that being the top end if needed. I know the truck is on the heavy side but its paid for and yes it does have a exhaust brake. I will have to chat with them about...
