    Antenna

I tried a Tarheel on the ladder. It became a pain to hook up and take down since a ladder was needed to attach/remove the whip, coax, ground straps and control cable. You could avoid that if you do a permanent install of all the wiring, but I was reluctant to drill holes in the endcap or roof...

    HamCation 2017

Any members attend HamCation in Orlando last weekend? There was a large RV presence. Orlando no longer has an amateur radio store since AES closed, so it was nice to be able to see the new equipment and buy the small items that would cost much less than the shipping fee that would be added if...

Ham antennas - towers, masts, beams, wires - what do you set up?

Thanks, Rod. I will keep this approach in mind. Right now we do not stay in one spot long enough to have time to setup and use the Tarheel I have on the ladder. At some point we will have time to spend time at a destination that will allow me to really evaluate the Tarheel. Your approach is a...

Rod, do you use a counterpoise of some sort?

    Spearfish to Moab

We are planning to attend back to back FMCA 4Wheelers rallies in Spearfish, SD and Moab, UT this fall and would like to take the most direct route between the two. Is the route through Casper and Rawlins to connect to I-70 around Rifle, CO viable for a class A towing a jeep? I believe that...

ANY HAM RADIO OPERATORS HERE ?

Bill & Joan, You might consider HF digital. It does not take loads of power, and a magnetic loop antenna is surprisingly effective from an apartment or condo. The antenna can be disassembled and put away when not in use. Bill W4WWB

    Water overflow this morning

Having the inflow to the tank at a rate that could be accommodated by the over flow is a plus and an indication that it is just leakage from the check valve. If your Journey is like mine a higher rate like from the fill valve in the wrong position would have flooded your bays from the gravity...

Jarring bumps on new Phaeton 36GH

Good to hear! I guess I have to go through the old Bilstien/Koni decision again. We went Bilstein on the Journey. They were about half the cost of Konis, I think, and we were happy with them. The Tiffin is heavier, so maybe I should spend the money for the Konis.

Jarring bumps on new Phaeton 36GH

Marty, did you get this sorted out? As an aside, we were unable to get two Michelins after a blowout over Easter weekend and ended up with a pair of Toyo M154s on the front. The harsh ride was greatly improved. Evidently they have softer sidewalls. Other than that, replacing the Sachs shocks...

    My 2011 Wrangler Rubicon build

You just need to come up with a good story of how the lift is going to benefit the library, John.

So, nobody is doing anything worth sharing?

Any pictures of that type of ratchet strap response to broken control arms? I would like to learn how that is done.

Just tell Susan it is necessary to hold two car seats, and that it must be ordered now to be here by February!
