    Interested in Linux?

I'm a full time Linux user.  It's come so far since the earlier days.  The public relations for Linux distributions haven't really done justice for the operating system.  The fact is, it's much easier to install and maintain the system than Windows, in my opinion.  I use Ubuntu eee on my eee...

Onan 10KW. Rebuild it or buy a new one. 2800hrs

I work on these for a living, and if the repair facility is Cummins associated, the repair will be backed by a good warranty.  This stuff is expensive to fix and if you don't get it right the first time , its a long way back in to fix it twice.

    oil pressure gauge is pegged?

Is there a check engine light also?  If not, that gauge is most likely independent of the engine ecm.  Usually a pegged gage is a faulty sender.  Best to have it looked at asap unless you do your own engine work and know where that sender is.  99 yr models mostly used non-ecm driven gauges. An...

    Wireless router

Good stuff! As Evdoalex mentioned, a range extender can help where you need to connect to the ethernetless router.  You know, you could use the device I mentioned in this thread http://www.rvforum.net/SMF_forum/index.php?topic=20729.0 and placed in proximity (within 50 or 100 feet) of your...

Hints, Tricks and Gadgets/Tools --- small ones.

I heard this one from a Monaco owner the other day: Radiator Surge Tank Coolant Level Checker Checking the coolant level in your radiator surge tank, as you know, can be difficult with some of those translucent plastic tanks and who wants to pop the cap off and spray 210 degree coolant all over...

    Happy 25th Birthday Macintosh

Today 25 years ago, January 24, 1984, the first Macintosh was shipped by Apple.  It cost about 2500 dollars in 1984, and it had one floppy drive. Happy Birthday, Mac! Bob

    2008 Tiffin Allegro FRED 32LA

Hi Bruce, It looks like you mentioned on a Jan 03 post that you thought the software was programmed for break-in behavior on the tranny and engine.  By the way, nice coach.  I worked on one of those today with 5k miles on it.  I was impressed that I had trouble finding and "factory screwups" on...

Become a wifi router "Power User" (Mesh Networking)

OBTW, I didn't mention that this can connect to WEP and WPA encrypted access points because I already went too deep into it..hehehehe If you know the WEP key or the WPA password or passphrase, you just enter them into a part of the router's admin page and away you go. Cheers, Bob

Cummins ISL/ISC CM2150, ISM CM876, ISX CM871 Recalibration Campaign (recall)

For all of you who own 2007 or later Cummins ISC, ISL, ISM or ISX engines that have the new aftertreatment exhaust systems factory installed, there is a software update recall that's not a bad idea to take advantage of.  It's a free update and it fixes a bunch of bugs and issues that exist in...

Become a wifi router "Power User" (Mesh Networking)

Hi folks, I was away for the week on some Cummins road duty.  Apologies for stirring up anything.  I've read some posts by some wanting more information on being able to access the park's wifi access point when they are out on the fringes of the park with a weak signal, and making that task...

Become a wifi router "Power User" (Mesh Networking)

Become a wifi router  "power user" Convert an access point wifi router to a scanning auto seeking auto connect wireless repeater for your motor home. I stongly advise you to read and re-read this and other related stuff on line before you plunge into doing this with a wifi router.  You can...

    No mouse drivers

Maybe your windows registry got fouled up.  All is working under linux eh?  hmm.  I wonder if doing a windows install on top of itself would fix anything?  Or, maybe it's fixed by now.  I'm late coming to this topic.  I was going to suggest trying a live linux distro but you already said it...

    Hi from a Cummins/Onan technician

I've been looking over a few rv forum sites, and this one seems well run with great people, and the site setup is good too. My name is Robert Reed (no relation to the TV guy in the Brady Bunch). I'm only a casual rv'er, having a little VW Vanagon Wesfalia that's on steriods.  I removed the 48...

napa parts rather than cat parts

Another thing to consider.  I am a diesel technician for Cummins West, turning wrenches for 35 years.  I've seen filter media (the guts of the filter) blow out for no other reason then the fact that it just failed, and go through the crankshaft bearings and take the whole engine out, several...
