before starting, you may want to see of there are any mechanicals hidden under the existing bed that may alter your plans.

it would be nice to see pictures of what you have as im not understanding how the plywood cant be a paintable surface.

im getting close to installing new membrane on this project and thinking ahead here. the AC unit is an emerson eqk135 and the shroud was a wee bit dried up( i think 29 years of weather had something to do with that) and didnt take too kindly to being removed. soooo, now im lookin at new shouds...

seems kind of strange,eh? the owner only uses this as a party barge- loads it up with friends for a few different events through the summer. any camping is done in the driveway. its now seeming the simplest thing for me to do is suck it up and cut a hole for it. :) heres a few pics of progress...

im working on a roof replacement and also tearing out a shower. since im putting on a new roof and the shower is going to be completely gone shortly after the roof is done  could i cut the shower vent below the roof line and cap it without any problems? thanks for any info.

one thing i have going for me is 15 years in carpentry with main focus on rough framing. ive framed about 100 houses in that time plus quite a bit of roofing,siding,windows, and remodeling thrown in to the mix. this isnt quite the mcmansions im used to working on, but its pretty understandable...
