The battery relay (soleniod) could have badly pitted internal contacts especially for that age of the coach. They are usually found near the house batteries and possibly mounted on the frame. They look like a starter solenoid. You can measure the voltage on both sides of it. Good luck.
For what it is worth here is my experience with my Atwood water heater.
For years mine was very intermittent and didn't know if it was going to work or not. I had replaced the circuit board several times and also the ignitor with no luck.
Due to what appeared to be a corrosive look of the metal...
Update
Just came from the pay station. The pay station was instructed this morning to close, dump stations and water are open now but subject to change.
According to the host "come on in and park wherever you want" it is on your honor now.
Government Shutdown
For the RV Forum people. The government shutdown will have little or no effect on us. According to the attendants at the check in booth they will be there as they are volunteer people. (you can't slash their wages)
The dump stations will most likely be closed.

Don't know about your situation but keep in mind that there are a lot of city ordinances that don't allow an RV to be parked in a driveway for extended periods of time. Some will allow them to be parked along the side of the house and back from the front of the house.
On occasion I will hold both release levers down and have wife drive vehicle forward an inch or so then there is no binding and it all comes apart very easy. While I am removing tow bar wife has foot on the brake. However you have to have a good relationship with the wife. Some may consider this...
We really like ours but like so many the controls do not show the numbers anymore.
A word of caution let the air down before going over any mountains. They can get hard as a rock or even rupture at higher altitudes.
