    Major holding tank problem!

My older trailer came with one of the permanent black water tank flushers (with vac breaker) already installed. Whenever we get home, I dump that tank, close the valve, let the flusher do its thing inside for five minutes or so, then dump again. Repeat a couple times, and from what I can see...

Travel trailer vs fifth wheel in terms of road safety (blowing around)?

Towing our 5'er, I've *never* felt the tail wagging the dog, so to speak, even with a significant cross-wind. Watching a buddy in front of us towing a TT with his F-250 made me glad to be running a 5-er. He has the WD hitch set up, but don't believe he has a sway control on it. A DRW helps even...

    Looking for early/mid 2000's Alpenlite 5'er dimensions

I'm building a machine shop extension along with a slab for the RV. In the future, I can see picking up an early/mid 2000's 27~31ft Alpenlite trailer with slides out both sides. If any of you have one, can you tell me what the absolute maximum width is with the slides extended out both sides...

    Did I get lied to?

Maybe the question should be "How much can my truck *comfortably* tow." vs. what is the absolute max weight I can haul. Big grey area there, but I know I am completely comfortable towing my 7800lbs Alpenlite 5er behind my DRW F350 diesel. Overkill? Perhaps, but the truck isn't being stressed...

Max width of 5th wheel with two slides

Old topic, I know, but is there a standard distance from the ground to the bottom of a slideout? I'm putting in a 3ft retaining wall as part of the slab and wonder if a slide will clear if extended.

Tekonsha Prodigy RF vs Prodigy P3 brake controllers??

There's no way I would use a wireless system for something critical like braking. There's just too much chance of interference causing problems. I love my Tekonsha P3. Works great. On newer rigs, all you need is the proper cable and it plugs right in to the electrical system.

What do you eat while camping thread

Our "traditional" first night camping meal is spaghetti with homemade noodles. I don't know why I like it so much, but real spaghetti while camping is just awesome.

    Questions regarding my desktop computer

If your machine supports it, don't discount the improvements made by upgrading to an SSD drive. If you don't need tons of space, a 128GB Samsung 840 Pro or EVO drive will make a huge improvement in perceived system speed.

    Aluminium and copper wire connections.

Take a pair of side cutters and wiggle one of the wire strands back and forth until it breaks. Look at the end with a magnifying glass. you should be able to see if it's copper under the "tin" plating vs. actual aluminum wire. Cutting the wire with cutters can fold the tin over the end and give...

Tow vehicle for GVWR 13,243 and Hitch 2,557

Watching a buddy in his 2000 F-250 gas CC short box SRW towing his trailer, and how my 2000 F-350 diesel CC long box dually feels in cross winds...I'll take a dually every time.

Max width of 5th wheel with two slides

I'm finally putting in a retaining wall and concrete slab for my shop extension and will be including uncovered (for now) space for an RV. I want to plan for a 5th wheel with slideouts on both sides, just in case. What is the max width I would probably be looking at?

    Yep. 4.10 gears.

    GearVendors OD in my truck

Thinking about dropping the coin for one of the GearVendors OD units. List price is around $3k. I have a 2000 Ford F-350 diesel dually CC dually longbox with the 6spd manual. I don't drive the truck much unloaded on long trips because the engine is singing pretty good at 70mph. Do any of you...

    GMC Yukon XL Performance chips

Turbo diesel trucks get much more benefit from computer upgrades than NA gas engines. If you don't stuff more air in the engine, no amount of computer work is going to do much.

    Wheel Bearings Showing Heat?

It's also possible the "cooked on grease" just had the carrier liquid separate out and make it stiff. If the bearings are packed with grease and there's no metal discoloration (turning blue), I'd clean it all out good, grease correctly, and reassemble with new seals.
