Thanks for the replies. This pump is probably original equipment from 1996. It's a Shurflo 2088-403-144. After I rapped it a few times, it seems to working well. If/when it happens again, I'll take it apart and see what I can do before buying a new one.

My Shurflo water pump runs continuously. The water pressure/flow seems normal.  This developed gradually from running about five seconds after water shut off until now when it runs until I turn off the switch. However, if I rap on the pump when it is running, it stops. My city water fill valve...
