Nights of March 12 and 13.
People I travel with alot are going to Lake Charles LA for a week. Steve is an inspector for "our" airline (I retired) and will be at the airport there doing some NDT and such on airplanes that are being modified there.
We made reservations to stay at Holbrook Park north of Lake Charles LA, but are looking for a midway point for a two nite stay. Davis Bayou (Federal, part of Gulf Islands Nat Seashore) is full. Buccaneer SP at Waveland MS is $85 a night so that is out. I suggested the Silver Slipper Casino RV park just west of Buccaneer but he doesn't seem to keen on that (its right across the street from the beach!!!!!). So that takes up to McLeod, a county park. It was taken over in 2016 by the county and apparently they spent a LOT of money there. Problem is, all pics, street view, etc all are older, when it was operated by previous management (the city?) and was apparently run down with lots of long termers in there. We are concerned about how decent it is. The web site makes it sound like a huge improvement over before, dunno.
Is anyone familiar enough to know if it is still run down or if it is cleaned up for real traveling RV'ers.
We are also open to other suggestions for a decent two night stay half way between South Atlanta and Lake Charles, probably between Mobile and the Louisiana state line.
