Will be traveling later this month through Barstow down to Joshua Tree. Never taken CA-247 through Lucerne Valley. Any comments/advice?

Joshua Tree National Park is one of my top ten NPs. It is awesome and usually fairly empty of tourists. I recommend Jumbo Rocks campground in the park. No hookups and only $10 per night with a NP pass.

IIRC it was two lane paved all the way. No serious grades or hairpins that I remember.

Thanks, we took the trip. CA 247 is a good road, lot of AM traffic heading to Yucca Valley. Lot of truck traffic. Easy drive once out of Barstow
