My husband and I will be towing our 37 ft fifth-wheel from our home in Parks, AZ (just west of Flagstaff) to the Olympic Peninsula this September 2024. Looking for the best route that would minimize steep grades. Also would prefer no long, desolate stretches as my husband has some health issues and heaven forbid we have a flat tire or mechanical issues.

At the end of last year, part of our trip was along part of that route.
If I do it again, I’d go I40 into Cali.
Then at Barstow, run up thru Tehachapi, Ca.
Then on into Bakersfield and 99N.
I believe we then cut across to I5 just North of Modesto, CA.
From there you have to deal with the mountains of NorCal and Southern Oregon.

Watch your fuel and be take it easy and all should be well. It was a bit tricky finding a few places to stay along the way, but not bad at all.
Cali is 55mph for all rigs towing. It was actually the easiest part of the trip, along 99.
