Slide Out Awning: Torsion spring replacement

I'm replacing the torsion spring in a 96" Slide Out Awning. The Slide Out it mounts to has 36" of travel from fully closed to fully open. When reinstalling. How many rotations are needed for spring preload?

Are you talking about the big awning or a slideout topper over a slideout. If it’s a slideout topper, it may be a trial and error. Do you have the manufacturer and maybe even a picture?

The Awning is 96" wide and the slide-out extends 25"

So it is a slideout topper. Just Google slideout topper installation and you’ll find several UTube videos showing how to do it

Just guessing but see whats the diameter of the spring to figure out the perimeter and that tells you how many rotations gives the distance it needs to roll (or you can simply roll/unroll the awning and count. Add a few more rotations to maintain the tension...

Were there no installation instructions with it? Usually it comes with the # of spring turns needed for a given size awning or topper. What brand & model of awning or topper is it? The instructions are usually available online as pdf files or videos or both. Instructions for awning fabric replacement will also have the spring torsion specs since new fabric requires re-tensioning.

I haven't received the new springs yet. They were just ordered. Maybe there will be instructions with them.
