Boy, ain't that the truth. That Shingles vaccine felt like Bruce Lee was using my arm as a punching bag. Caught me by surprise.
Conversely, with both the earlier single-dose shingles shot and the later two-dose version, the most I had was a slight tenderness at the point of needle entry for a day or so, didn't even know it 'til I laid on it in bed.

JayFlight is correct...

FDA & CDC have stopped all J&J Vaccinations...
It has been established that the J&J vaccine has been temporarily put on hold until the 6 reaction cases can be investigated. As I mentioned in an earlier reply all drugs both across the counter and prescription come with some adverse reactions. My wife uses Fluticasone (Flonase) a prescription nose spray. Apotex Corp. lists several reactions that can occur if one takes this medicine. They include headache, pharyngitis, epistaxis (nosebleed), nasal burning, nausea, vomiting and cough. The company goes on to say that if a user of this medicine suspects they are experiencing any other adverse reactions to contact them. I take this to indicate all suspected adverse reactions were not discovered during the drug trials.

Also if one reads in detail it seems the treatment for these clots is not the standard clot treatment, and the FDA wants to make sure all hospitals and J&J vaccine injection sites have been trained on how to respond to this type of clot before allowing it to be used again.

TRUE, sadly there are some folks who won't get it. But if enough get it we may still enjoy victory.
The thing I should (but don't) find surprising is the people who complain the most about having to wear a mask and other such small hassles are mostly the same people who are refusing to get the shots.

Most likely, more people died from a traffic accident on the way to or from getting the vaccine than died from the vaccine itself.

Do not know if that is true or not but I know this. A mass shooting is 4 or more victims
so the police involved shooting here in Michigan a day or 2 ago (One officer recovering and one homicidal shooter dead) would not make the "mass" list not enough victims>

7,229,868 so far per Wikepedia this year of mass shootings. NOTE that is not deaths.. Most survived. That's number shot

How many Covid Vaccine shots put people in hospital or morgue (I do not know)

The problem with those mass shooting statistics is that they cover a lot of things that don't fit the general perception of mass shooting events, ie 1 or 2 gunmen shooting at mostly unarmed groups. Instead those statistics include things like shoot outs between rival gangs, and drug deals gone bad where both sides are shooting at each other are included, or even police exchanging gunfire with criminals where shooting victims are on both sides.

These people see both masks and the vaccine as impositions on their freedom...you know, their "freedom" to get sick and pass it on to someone else who may or may die from it.

If you want to take the position that the reportedly six people that's been affected by this vaccine is really no big deal, then of course given the statements, public policy and events lately you can also say that the pause or potential removal from the approved vaccines could be deliberate, using the adverse conditions of the J&J vaccine. It looks like the attempt of vaccinating everyone so the country can open up safely is a farse. Pulling one vaccine slows the process and declining to target the vaccine in high incident areas makes it even harder to slow the spread. , But for more behind the scenes action that can support this theory, look at the response to Michigan when ask about additonal vaccines. I quote:
Michigan’s Plea for More Vaccines Is Rejected by Biden Team

The Biden administration on Monday put Michigan’s Democratic governor on notice that her plea for more vaccine to be sent to the state isn’t going to happen, despite a surging Covid-19 outbreak there.

Shutdowns are needed to control the spike in cases, not more vaccine, said Rochelle Walensky, the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in a Monday news briefing. Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said in a separate briefing that the administration is “not in a place, nor will we be, where we take supply from one state to give them to another”

It looks like this was well coordinated with the CDC too. But reading their own words, I go back to one of my original replies, what good is the push to vaccine? Depending on the day and even the time of day, the message coming from people in the CDC actually contradicts each other.. “We can’t vaccinate our way out of this virus.” So when will all the people calling for listening to the experts acknowledge that the science is not settled and stop beating that drum? Lock down, lock down, lock down, lock down,,, Hey that has a simular chant to it too.
Instead, the CDC director said the state needed “to shut things down” to battle the surge, adding that it can take as long as six weeks for vaccines to take effect, a delay that will have no immediate effect on the virus’s surge.

“If we tried to vaccinate our way out of what’s happening in Michigan we would be disappointed it took so long for the vaccine to work to actually have the impact,” Walensky said in a news briefing
Instead, Walensky said it was important for the state to “go back to our basics,” by using measures that include business shutdowns, decreased social contact and more testing.

For me six people on its own face is not enough to change the direction of the vaccination program.. But we know that the national spending in the name of this virus heavily favors the heavily locked down states. These states are hemorrhaging money and have been as the result of the lockdowns. Of course their leaders could give a rats behind about the small business workers , as witnessed in the lack of help for the small businesses in any bill that’s gotten passed.

But the real fix? Why of course, lets pass more bills under the guise of helping the people not working . But we know , or at least the people taking the time to read up on some of that crap sandwich , is that more than a majority of spending has nothing to do with helping individual people directly affected by the virus. Its only been helping the cronies of the ones pushing forward these non-related virus spending bills.. The token checks are just a side show and does nothing to pay peoples bills long term. It just sucks people into looking to the printing press again the next month. These checks are worse than passing out a rolled joint free of charge.

The proposal of spending more with no brakes in the name of the events surrounding the virus works much better when people are locked down from their jobs and everyday life as we used to know it. This ,just creates many reasons to slow down the vaccination process. All those speeches with the fake empathy plays on the heart strings of the unwilling masses. Nothing will change until about six months before the mid terms. Then everything will be vintage wine and fresh cut red roses.

This may be an interesting story for you.

Just ran across this story, It seems that there were more issues in the trials than what is being reported in the actual vaccine distribution. This is why I personally question the action today.

For me six people on its own face is not enough to change the direction of the vaccination program.

Vaccine Blood-Clot Side Effect Puts Focus on Immune Reaction

Overall, there were 14 cases of clotting and bleeding events patients who received J&J’s vaccine in the trial, according to a report to the FDA. There were 10 in the group that received the placebo. Events so rare that they occur once in only thousands to millions of patients are very difficult to tie to a specific cause, said Weitz, the McMaster professor

Vaccine Blood-Clot Side Effect Puts Focus on Immune Reaction

So why shut down the distribution for 6 people after so many shots have been given to the masses? Is there more than 6 people that we are not being told about?

You’re whining over 1 in a million. Sure, if you are the one it sucks but the other 999,999 are now protected. J&J vaccine was put on hold because this clotting problem is extremely rare. This has not slowed down vaccinations to any decipherable degree. You have not provided anything close to a salient argument that the vaccines are not safe.

Jayflight, the issue with sending more vaccine to Michigan vs a new lockdown to slow the virus is that it takes 4-6 weeks for the vaccine to reach peak effectiveness, and everyone still will not be getting the vaccine at once, we are nearly 1/3 of the way though 2021, and as of now less than 1/6th of the US population has received the vaccine. The only way vaccine could help Michigan would be is the entire US supply were to be diverted there and then there is logistical nightmare of getting to distribution centers and into peoples arms.

I don't think there is anything medical related that is always 100% safe. But we are still far better off with it than without it.

"Vaccines are the best defense we have against infectious diseases, but no vaccine is actually 100% safe or effective for everyone because each person’s body reacts to vaccines differently. "

But if one looks for the danger, they can find it. But the bigger danger is usually from not getting what is needed.

It's just that some people have tomophobia.

And this COVID thing proves to me that a lot more people have tomophobia than most of us thought.

We got our 2nd Moderna yesterday, me, little bit of a sre arm, small amount of redness arund the site. Now, my poor wife! The listing of possible reactions could be used for her reactions, ard to mocve, headache, all sorts of stuff, hoping it goes away tonight. I am still good, I suppose I could get some nastiness overnight, but so far so good. Glad we got it this week because next week we are back on the road.

I ask again , what is the raw truth? Its looking like no one really will know. This changes by the day. The crowd just moves the goal post again. What we are witnessing is purely political, after looking at the numbers from its own study. Lock downs, Lockdowns continue to be the mantra even as we continue to increase the vaccination rate. J&J was going to be the better alternative with a one shot dose. But of course we must slow that process now.
Our " medical professionals" make demands for everyone to get vaccinated so we can open the country, then tells the citizens of Michigan that its not possible to provide additional vaccination to a hot spot to hopefully "slow the spread". That's all we heard from the beginning, but have moved on from that to "even after the shots you must wear double masks and stay isolated". That's is a bunch of baloney .

Yet we have tens of thousands of non-citizens getting all the healthcare they can gobble up 24 hours a day. We as a nation have plenty of resources to provide shots in Michigan beginning with the military healthcare providers without pulling from the locals.
And talk about diverting vaccines, the population of Michigan does not represent the entire population of the U.S. either. Michigan working in conjunction with the governor got the finger. Its always the next thing will allow the country to get back to normal, until the next excuse.

Well stick a fork in this one for me. Well its been fun, but time to hit the road again. Its time to finish rigging so we can spread some of our resources across the highways and byways. Cheers

So, I read today that the clotting problem is also caused by certain birth control drugs. The incidence of clotting using the birth control is something like 1 in 10,000(vs 1 in 1,000,000 for the vaccine), yet they still prescribe this birth control drug.
I got my J&J shot last Friday, spent Saturday having mild Covid symptoms and woke up Sunday back to normal. I'm not worried.

I am getting the second Moderna this afternoon. First shot I felt "blah" that evening and had what felt like a charlie horse in my arm for a couple days. I have heard all kinds of stories about the second one being bad. I think it's BS.

I know at least 30 people vaxxed so far and no one has reported anything to me but mild discomfort. Mixture of Pfizer and Moderna.

My sister in Australia got the AstraZeneca. She debated with herself because of the unknowns but decided to get it. She will have 2 blood samples taken over the next 2 weeks to check for liver and clotting risks.
Got my second Moderna yesterday. Like the first one my arm feels like is has a bad Charlie horse.

Last night I felt fine until about 10pm (bedtime) got the shot at 2:30pm. This morning (6am), like last time, a general malaise but with an added mild headache. Did not take anything for the headache and now at 10:30 it's pretty much gone.

Everyone warned me how terrible the second Moderna shot would be including the nurse who stabbed me. So far no big deal.

I usually try to stay out of internet debates but...

Risk - Risk is cumulative. There is risk of getting sick and risk of dying. Let's focus on risk of dying.

Don't get a shot - the risk of getting covid and dying is a factor "X" based on your underlying conditions, age, etc, etc.

Risk of everything else from flu to dying in a plane crash to a piano falling out of a windonw on your head are fixed.

The risk of dying from covid goes down when you get the shot. So you are replacing one statistical risk with another. You can add in the probability of dying from a side effect and the overall risk is still miles lower by getting the shot.

Argue the margins and the probabilities all you want - the math is pretty clear...

"Life - No one gets out alive..."

Exactly, if you are over the age of about 40 your risk of dying if you catch Covid is about 1 in 100 or higher depending on your risk factors, so far it seems the risk of dying from one of the vaccines is at least a thousand times lower than that, somewhere on the order of 1 in million or less.
