Desperately searching for a 2005 400hp Cummins accelerator pedal A01-29042-000

This engine failure is getting to be really annoying. Initial event was siezed alternator that broke the serpentine belt. thats fixed.

on the plus side State Farm covered 100% of the $770 tow.

After alternator repair shop noticed a check engine lite. Tech reports it is an accelerator fault where pedal is not reporting "returned to idle position" . vehicle is driveable and idles properly but I want it fixed as I don't take road trips with known problems.

Repair shop reports the accelerator part is unobtanium. I need help finding one. theres gotta be one somewhere.

part number is A01-29042-000.

The accelerator peddle isn't an engine part from Cummins - it is part of the chassis. You didn't identify either the chassis or the RV make/model, so we can't even guess. And whose part number is that pedal assembly? It looks like a Freightliner number - is that right? If so, ought to be able to find one in a salvage yard, RV or maybe a truck.

Has anybody looked at repairing the pedal? Failure to return to the zero (idle) position is often just a mechanical glitch.

Assuming it is A Freightiner Custome Chassis design, have you contacted FCCC Help or Parts for possible substitutes? 1-800-FTL-HELP

Routine maintenance from Freightliner calls for lubricating the shaft that the pedal pivots on. Try lubricating it. Also, I believe the pedal operates a throttle position sensor that is on the other side of the floorboard, ie under the coach. You can call Freightliner 24/7 365 days. 1-800-FTL-HELP they have always been very helpful to me.
 
Tried the freightliner help line but no help, all he did was suggest I try to find the part at an RV junkyard. Before I go that route I'll do some troubleshooting of my own. Maybe I'll get lucky and all it needs is a couple drops of oil as suggested by Gary.
 
Assuming by now you have cleaned underneath your go pedal and lubricated the moving parts;
Have you contacted Winnebago parts yet? Lichtsinn motors carries the largest inventory of W parts available outside the factory, contact them too.
Your(or mine) accelerator pedal is not special-made, Most other MH mfgrs. buy off-the shelf HDT products for their chassis use, they are NOS from HDT mfgrs or new production parts bought directly from the mfgr.

Picked up the RV today. Check engine lite was on but temporarily cleared up so I'm hopeful it's a lube issue. I'll give that a try tomorrow if it doesn't snow.

There is a test method to determine if the throttle position sensor is working properly. This is a potentometer type device(older models), it is not the actual readings taken but rather how smoothly and evenly the reading progresses from minimum to maximum that determines if it is working properly. If you tap lightly on it and the readings jump or waiver it is faulty as well. Freightliner should be able to give you actual low and high limit numbers.
My opinion is free, you get what you pay for.

I had to replace my throttle position sensor on my pedal.
I have a Cat 3126 it was a Cat part. Seems strange that yours wouldn'tbe a Cummins part as it has to communicate with the engine. If I had seen this post yesterday I would have asked my mechanic friend who works for Kenworth. If I talk to him tomorrow I will ask
 
Thx for additional info. Fault is intermittent which strongly suggests some oil will fix it. I just have to figure out how to get to the position sensor and determine where a little oil should go. Robert; the for offer to ask the mechanic. Ray-IN I am checking the source you recommended.
 
Typically what happens to potentiometers is dirt or oil gets on the contacts. Contact cleaner usually clears that up. The other moving parts may need oil, but not the electrical contacts inside.

You might be able to find a diagram or engineering drawing of the part online.

Harbor Freight sells CRC Contact Cleaner cheap.

Matt (,old ryder). The lube goes at the bottom of the pedal where the pedal attached to the floor. Under your right foot.

I agree, everything I found indicated the sensor and engine are matched.
