I bought a couple of things. One big, heavy hitch part was beat up and packaging was torn up.
This is the makers fault, not etrailer. The other heavy part was fine.
Stop blaming etrailer and put the blame on UPS and , in my case, Reese.

I've never had any trouble with e-trailer. I also don't uninstall/sell/discard my only means of transport BEFORE I have the replacement parts on-hand.
Yes, I understand from your post that your parent needed time to save money for the tow equipment and selling the original dolly was probably part of those funds or they would have been delayed even longer.
Sometimes it's inconvenient and with today's multitude of manufacturing and shipping delay excuses WE are the ones that are forced to learn patience.

Moral: Don't cast off the last dock line from the boat until after the motor is started.

If your replying to MY post.? maybe try re-reading it. I SAID it was UPS that damaged it. But now Etrailer is telling me returns and other 'policies' that are NOT the same as the ones I was told when I first contacted them. NOW. If you have any valid topics...... otherwise goodbye.

I too have had good service from them in the past, but every product shipper seems to be having numerous delays these days. Even Amazon. All blamed on pandemic-related problems, of course. Even UPS is frequently notifying me that a package is delayed en-route.

As somebody mentioned, etrailer is a distributor and does a lot of drop-ships on low-volume items, which would include many vehicle-specific parts. That puts them at the mercy of both the manufacturer warehouse and the shipping company.

I have had a very good experience with Etrailer. I ordered a new wheel for my 5th wheel and at the time was told it would be delayed 3-months. Etrailer gave me a couple options - made me aware of a similar item that was in stock, wait and of course cancel. I decided to wait as the similar item was close but not an exact match. The rep said he would monitor my order and keep me informed. As it turned out they ended up shipping it a month later. Bottom line, any vendor can experience difficulties and not uncommon during the pandemic. As mentioned Etrailer is at the mercy of others which can compound the problem.

I ordered and received a trailer hitch from them and after installation discovered it sits about 5" below the bumper. I texted my disappointment and their reply was "Sorry about that". I'm living with the lower hitch.

Negative experience. Ordered a hitch and realized within a minute that it was the wrong one.
Called immediately and waited for 18 minutes in the queue - only to be told that it can not be cancelled anymore, because it has already been boxed and shipped. Obviously a lie. No shop ships within ~30minutes. The website clearly states that cancellations can be done through a phone call. I'll never do business with this company again.

Ordered a hitch from e-trailer on 9/17, said it would be in stock on 9/19 and delivered on 9/24. Checked my order on 9/24 and now says backordered until Oct.8. Called e-trailer to see whats going on and after 15 minutes on hold told that the hitches might show up at e-trailer sometime mid October. Asked why I wasn't notified immediately of the delay so I could have looked at other options and was told that wasn't something they did regarding backorders. Would cancel in a heartbeat but since I made my order the other couple of vendors that had the hitch are now out of stock. My biggest complaint here is the complete lack of communication and follow through by e-trailer. Trying to contact anyone other than the original call center worker was difficult, no option for e-mail or corporate on their website. I'm with one of the earlier posters who votes with their wallet when given poor service.

supply chain issues still is a real issue on almost everything, especially items that are made overseas. A vendor can't control that at all. We are on month 6 for a furniture order from an US based manuf and being told another 4-6 weeks,

The issue is and was communication. They gave me false information on the initial order and my follow up call. E-mailed the hitch manufacturer themselves and got shipping dates to e-trailer which had no relation to what I was told.
