I have a 93 Vectra on Chevy chassis. It's time for new plugs and carb cleaning. The problem is there isn't room to work on it. Is it possible to remove all bolts except rear 2 bolts and let the platform tilt down for access?

This can be a puzzler and bears some thinking. All but the most sadistic of engineers would have a way to service the generator.

I was faced with a similar dilemma the first time I did mine. I started removing the shroud panel to access the back plug thinking this is really dumb until I figured out the trick.

You shouldn't have to take the generator out to change a spark plug. Good luck.

Tilting the generator down as you described is exactly what I did to replace the fuel pump on our previous motorhome with an Onan Marquis 7000 generator. I used a floor jack to lower the front so it could roll as the base swung down and back. A ~45 degree angle gave me all the access I needed.

I wouldn't assume anything in/on an RV had any consideration of servicing at the time of design and construction. I would go with first order whatever seems obvious first, then wing it from there. You may discover a better way after the fact but don't assume your initial impressions invalid or incorrect, go with what you think will work and regroup if that doesn't work out. Thanks NY Dutch. I can only get my hand halfway to rear plug, my arm is too big. Not to mention I can't even see the back side of the carb to get at bolts. My 83 Warrior had a slide out tray at least.

I ended up removing the 1rst 3 bolts on each side of engine tray and loosening the two rear bolts. Then with my floor jack, slowly let it tip down till I could reach the back side of generator. Was able to easily work on the unit and this also is a good time to drain oil completely. Good news, it now starts easily first time and will run without surging.
