What you should do is start your own post and provide as much information that you can especially in the title. You can post it under the motor home section for now. If a staff member feels it would get better exposure in another section, they’ll just move it.
Pictures really help.

TH400 can be set up to tow, (which even if you aren't, you are moving a considerable amount of weight).
TCI has off the shelf trans in the 2200 range.
B&M considerably less, your mileage may vary.
A HD junkyard core and an afternoon on a workbench (if you have mechanical skills) and you'll have a working trans for a grand.
With a Holley 4bbl and Edelbrock manifold (depending on type) I bet fuel mileage is poor. Consider an upgrade to EFI for more reliability, easy cold starts, and better MPG.
I just camped next to a guy that had a 502 with all the goodies in his MH.
Looked nice, sounded healthy, but a miserable 4-5 MPG. That gets real expensive at 4.00 a gallon.

You can get a rebuilt heavy duty TH400 transmission for around $1,500, as to if you are crazy it depends on if you want a nearly 35 year old motorhome with a 3 speed transmission, and how you plan to use it. Such things may be ok for local and perhaps regional travel, but I would not want to travel around the country in such a beast, that was designed in the era of the 55 mph national speed limit.
