We sometimes have issues with park WiFi signals being low while in our rig. I was wondering what others to to improve this. I see there are may plug in units as well as roof installed. What is most popular and works well.

Better would be to invest in your own SECURE system. Park wife's are generally so basic once a few people login your SOL. Besides being an open network means anybody can see what you have on your conputer.

The best improvement you could make is to not use RV Park Wi-Fi at all.

I use one of these thingies. An older version of it. The problem for some is there is a monthly fee.

But If you have a SmartPhone connected to the web you should be able to tether and accomplish the same thing. That info should be in the manual for your Smartphone.

I've looked at those the only problem is you have to have a good cell signal and yes it would be an extra cost.

OK, look at it this way. How much is your security worth to you? Park WiFi are open. So anytime you use the parks wifi your opening your device up to hackers to steal all of your information. Your choice of course, but to me secure is worth the few dollars a month for cell based internet access

And I usually have a strong cell sig no matter where I go. I have five bars right now, but it will work with only one bar.

While there are dead spots, you will have trouble finding such in normal driving stops. I expect mine to work no matter where I am.

And it will work with several different devices at the same time.

Ditto on what both Donn and DonTom said. Two further tips: Verizon really does have the broadest coverage, and you can buy a slightly used Verizon hotspot on eBay. I bought one that way for $40, and it lasted me 5 years of heavy use. Until recently, I taught online half-time and commonly even now spend 5-6 hours online each day. It is nice to know my connection is secure.

Not true. Public WIFI routers are configured to prevent just that.
Even most consumer routers require you to set the lan & WiFi to Private in order to have one of your computers see another, or a printer, or network storage.

of course, an incompetent can misconfigure anything.

After 5 years of traveling and trying all sorts of WiFi antennas and all sorts of extenders and amplifiers, I finally gave up on all that crap(shoot) to have Internet access and bit the bullet and purchased a Pepwave Max Transit cellular router & 4x4 MIMO rooftop antenna. Added a few 100GB SIMs from ATT, T-Mobile & Verizon. Last summers 6 month (10k Mi) trip had excellent bandwidth EveryWhere and we were mostly far from civilization. It cost a bit ($900), but probably no more than the cost of all the junk I purchased over the years to try to get better signal. (if only I had done the MT first) Live an learn. -Bill

I find it extremely rare for my Verizon Wireless Hotspot to NOT work. This entire trip it worked at every stop.

The few places it did NOT work over the years is a very short list. Recently at Furnace Creek, Death Valley (used to work there years ago), the Big Bend of Texas and a few areas of eastern NV. I can remember every place it has NOT worked over the many years I owned it.

And I doubt if the external antenna amps would help at any of those places.
