Old crow, if you build one make sure you integrate the electronics so you can use it to charge the house batteries, whether it’s the tow vehicle or the toad.😁

That’s exactly what the Ford lightening does. It has a 7.2 KW 120 volt output. Or half that at 240 volt.

Alas, I've gone full time since I owned my shop. I've got no place to build it.
I do like the little Datsun Mark linked to. Especially like their motto: "we blow things up, so you don't have to". Priceless.

Emblazoned across the back window of White Zombie was "Suck Amps". In some of the forum discussions he would say something like the car would be zero emission but the tires keep smoking. Back in the days of home made EV's it was groundbreaking to come anywhere close to gas car performance in any way so the White Zombie, Maniac Mazda, Current Eliminator and others were all pioneers in high performance EV's.

Also seen at the various rallies and races was Otmar's electric couch which I think had it's own speed record.

Natural gas comes from Alberta, produced by the petrochemical industry, and arrives at my house via a pipeline. Works well. Not sure what you are asking.
Here in the USA we have been told all fossil fuels including natural gas will be eliminated. Leaving only solar and wind power generation with no backup. Even CA wildfires cut solar power up to 30% that can last for weeks. We would accept EV taking over the majority of the market. We just don't like being forced by legislation.

I have no memory of anyone saying all fossil fuels and natural gas will be eliminated. Could you provide me with a link?

Definitely haven’t seen anything like that here. Interesting. There is definitely a push to burn less petroleum or to burn it more efficiently though.

I support the transition to electric vehicles as technology allows. I also support pipelines, the ethical use of petroleum products and mining.

Jmho.

I guess you have been in a bubble. Current talking in DC is eliminate ALL fossil fuels by 2030.
No one is stopping to calculate the true costs of this. Cost to make the batteries, cost to recycle or put them in a land fill, cost to the environment as the chemicals in all those batteries break down. That also does not take into account cost to replace the battery pack when it fails. There are pictures on the internet of thousands of EV taxis parked in a field in I believe France because it's too expensive to replace the battery packs. Let's not get into all the wind mill blades berries in land fills, again because they are not recycleable. Then there there is the fact of the THOUSANDS of birds killed each year by wind mills.

Nope. The birds thing was a myth started by a specific petro company. It actually came back to haunt them in bad publicity because it was so clearly fabricated. Here’s the real numbers. Also easy to research in many languages in many countries. Kinda funny. The biggest killer of birds is and always has been house cats. Turbines are almost inconsequential.

The French taxi thing was also a myth. Easily searchable on the web. EV batteries are recycled. At least one company is making new batteries from 100 percent materials recovered from recycling.

And the climate change crowd tells us that pretroleum products kills more birds than wind turbines. So its all about when the earth is going to catch fire crowd and EV owners wants to believe.

Oh and I wonder how many birds cats kill every year. Yet we have not banned cats from existance like is attempting to be done with fossil fuels.:p(y) And yes Natural gas that heats homes in the winters comes from drilling, which the same crowd is attempting to ban too.

It was in the presidential debates. Click here. Natural gas is a fossil fuel.
By 2050. I won’t be around to witness it and I doubt you will either. Politicians say things on the campaign trail because folks want to hear it. It’s up to us filter out the campaign rhetoric and focus what we know are the things that can actually get done. Unfortunately we have come to a time where it doesn’t matter if a proposed bill will benefit the people, if the right proposed it the left won’t vote for it, if the left proposed it the right will not vote for it. Bipartisanship for the good of the country is dead.

We owned a hybrid at one time. Great little car. Donn, TheBar and Jayflight, your opinion when it comes to EV’s mean nothing to me.
As I have said in past posts I am 100% entirely in favor of hybrids. I don't like total EV because if your battery runs dead they don't make electric gas cans. Plus on a long trip I want to refill in 5 minutes not 30 minutes twice as often. Plus I think electricity rates (or taxes) will go through the roof to pay for "free" charging stations and upgrades to the infrastructure needed to eliminate fossil fuels. Then we pay more for A/C, heat, lighting, and shopping at any business that offers "free" charging. Nothing is "free".

Nothing is "free".
Its free when I am not paying. And there are countless free charge stations in Reno and a few in CA. Free to me, the casino or Cal-Trans pays.

But Ca-Trans is paid for by taxes, so it could be others who pay for my free charge.

BTW, they do have portable charge units for EVs.

BTW, why would an RV'er take an EV on a long road trip?

It would be difficult in a Tesla to run out of charge if the navigation system is used correctly. You would know there is a problem before you even start the trip.

Without discussing politics, I may not be around in 2050 but we are already seeing the effects. A change to total electric is good but only if done in a realistic way and as technology allows. Not good when thrown against the wall to see if it sticks. The facts are the Keystone pipeline was shut down and drilling on federal lands and the gulf were shut down in the same executive order. Now that the price of gas has skyrocketed 80 million acres of the Gulf of Mexico went up for lease to oil and gas drilling companies. It may not be for the good of the country but maybe people who use heating oil won't freeze this winter. Europe is in a pickle because they don't have fossil resources like the US and Canada.

Where you live and drive there may be enough charging stations so the portable charge unit would work. But surprise, surprise, we don't all live where you do, so understand why an EV won't work for us. At this point in time. It realistically might be a decade before all the US is covered with the thousands of charging stations needed. Look how long the internet has been around and rural areas are just now starting to get it.
