If you zoom in on my photos above you can see what the end of the mount looks like. It is not that common but I didn't have to search very hard to find it.I feel like everything I look at is not going to be a slip disconnect, or the arm will not pivot enough, or the wall plate will be bigger than the end of my wall cabinet
You are right about location and it is important to find the right spot. The board I mounted on is actually plastic. It isn't the prettiest install but I wanted to tie the board into the aluminum frame at the door and at the window at the front. Once the board was solid the mount is solid as heck.
In hindsight I could have made the mount board a lot shorter and only picked up the aluminum frame on each side of the middle window.
The end of the mount is reverse V shaped and the part on the tv is V shaped.
