Quartzsite Rally 2022 - Reply Thread

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Ohhhh! Cooking for friends! Yea! I could also make a big pot of spaghetti sauce with browned ground beef and Italian sausage, onions, and pepper! We could make a feast if someone else makes a box of spiral pasta, and another brings garlic bread, and a 4 brings a salad! (How to feed an Italian village!)

Can you see the van and schoolbus, cheapliving people from where you guys are camping?

Nope, I think they have their own preferred area, probably where you don't have to pay. There are a few conversions around and a few vans and tents. Everyone to their own.
The area we are in has two units that are not forum members, but that is their right, first come, first served. Both of the couples are very friendly people.

In the past the RTR was centered in Quartzsite. But since Bob Wells was forced to move the event to the Parker fairgrounds I expect most of the attendees are staying on BLM land closer to Parker, either near Bouse or on the CA side of the river.

Just a correction. This year the RTR seminars and such are going to be in Quartzsite, not at the fairgrounds near Parker.

It all sounds so exciting out there this time of the year!

Share pics when you can! The rest of us will admire the pics and shovel snow.

Once a few more arrive and the fire is lit, we'll get some pictures posted to make you feel warmer.

I'm not going to this Q gathering, but looked at the info link for the location of this event. I see only a drone shot showing a bit of highway, a ranger station and some desert with the location to find. Is there only one ranger in all of Q that a newbie would need to find?

There are 4 Long Term Visitor Areas encompassing 25 square miles of flat desert south of Quartzsite and several more around Yuma and across the river in California. Each area has a staffed entry station where you buy your pass and a decal is placed on your windshield. $40 for two weeks, renewable. $180 for the 6 month season (Sept-April). Then you drive in and set up camp pretty much anywhere you want. You can stay as long as you like and the pass can be used at multiple LTVAs. Come with a full fresh water tank, empty holding tanks and a way to recharge your batteries (solar or generator). Most LTVAs have central water, dump and trash stations for you to use.

There are also several 14 day free camping areas. Here you register at no charge with a camp host at the entrance and you can stay up to 14 days before having to move on. No services at all, but water/dump/trash are available in town.

Our rally is in the La Posa Tyson Wash LTVA, the southwest one of the four. There may not have been anyone there when the satellite photo was taken but it's pretty popular in January while the rest of the country is snowed in.

What day are you planning to feed an Italian Village? Let me know so Eric and I can prepare a few large salads. Eric will make his yummy low carb and healthy oil French dressing. We'll also bring some kind of Italian dressing.

Thanks for all of the info. I was just curious as to the locale as there is also a 300 unit truck camper event going on down at Roadrunner and a Lance Owners of America (LOA) campout of about 20 rigs over at Scaddan Wash.

There are numerous activitites going on around Q in January and February. Car shows, RV shows, rock and mineral shows, a week long hamfest, and much more during this prime time in the desert.
