I am trying to find the solenoid on my onon microquiet 4000 ( 2004 Holiday Rambler Admiral ) I have never worked on a solenoid or generator before so please be gentle. I have found lots of youtube stuff on how to test it but I need to find the stupid thing first.

Try following the thick red lead into the genny. The first thing it goes to should be the solenoid. Disconnect BOTH batteries (house and engine) before removing the solenoid.

Sorry, but I have to ask "The solenoid that does what?" Engages the generator starter? Switches the 120v source from shore to generator? Or??? DonTom gave you a way to find the starter solenoid, but it's probably under the covers on the Onan. It is typically labeled Starter Relay in Onan diagrams.

Meanwhile, here is a service manual for it. It has wiring schematics and such that should help if its the starter you are looking for. https://www.ltvforum.com/index.php?PHPSESSID=ktgojfh3mcuhpi8m0qkgi0ocuq&action=media;sa=media;in=137
