I'm seeing some nice deals right now, but don't like the thought of buying a camper and taking it straight to storage! I've also heard that the 2021 models may have more build defects due to labor shortages and rushing to put them out. Is it better to wait for the 2022s and buy in the Spring? Worth the certainty that prices with go up?

Traditionally RV dealers in your region will give the best deals this time of year as they know there is little or no chance of selling anything from Nov-April

It depends on the deal, whats the one your looking at
I bought a new rig in late September 2014 got a smokin deal used it twice and then storage for 6 months. Sold it April 2021 for $6000 less than what i.paid in 7 yrs we took it cross country 4 times and put close to 40000 miles on in 6plus seasons

Brought one home end of September on a deal that was almost 20% off regular price. Sold my 2018 model for more than what i bought it for (new). I am sure you won't find deals like that in spring when every one else is looking to buy. The dealer already had 2022 model (with fewer options) at regular price and wouldn't budge as they can sell them in 2022 as new year model.

Then take a long trip south in it as I do every winter. I enjoy the 75F December temperature in Organ Pipe Cactus Nat'l Monument almost every December, but next month, I am headed for Florida.

Also, Tucson, Yuma and several other places down there one can escape winters. I hate winters, so I avoid them!

"Winterize"? What does that mean?:) :) I have not done that for years. Fortunately, I can park my RVs in Auburn, CA for the rest of the winter where it rarely gets below freezing any time of year.

I put my RV on Facebook Market a couple of weeks ago but no bites. I guess no one wants to spend money and have it sit all winter . I’ll wait till spring. I have no choice.

In some areas of the USA, winter is the peak of the RV season. Just as with motorcycle riding. Places such as near Phoenix, Yuma, Tucson, Las Vegas, etc. Oh, and Quartzsite!

I am always RVing in December, just before the snowbirds fill up the southern USA. I try to get home in early January. If it were not for the snowbirds, I probably wouldn't be back until springtime!

There are many areas where such business is very slow in mid summer.

Thanks for asking the question for me.
We have all but made up our minds to wait but I didnt think about the end of season offers although I'm not sure I've seen any.

Thanks, all. And for those of you who live in more temperate areas of the country, I'll be envying your RVing freedom when we hit -20 and have several feet of snow on the ground. Maybe someday...

Every RVer can have such freedom at a price. If I lived way up north, I would keep my RV unwinterized in a storage lot somewhere in southern AZ or wherever, for the winter months. Ready to go at all times.

RVs are paid for at the dealership they minute they are delivered. So its in the interest of the dealership to move them as soon as possible. We bought a 2020 model in the spring we had been watching for 2 yrs as the model hardly changed between yrs. For us it was great deal its new but a yr old and they wanted it gone. The 2022 version of the same model increased by $30000 and we dont like the changes they made

Yep. They just offered that. But it's outside storage. We've found a couple of places near us with indoor spots available.
Lol no offense but when you take your new trailer camping it will be outside (hopefully) my 5er is 47ft long and 13 1/2 ft tall my truck is 21ft and a dually neither one have been inside except for service work. I wouldn't worry about the inside thing especially if its gonna cost you. The Lamborghini that stays inside but thats different trucks and trailers outside

As mentioned, don't discount the advantage of buying something gently used. RV designs haven't changed that much in the last 10-15 years, except for a few electronic creature comforts. Dealers will always have their overhead to meet in order to pay for those warehouse dealerships and big slabs of concrete lots. Private owners don't have any of that. Right now, the used RV market is still pretty hot, but over the next couple years I predict (and hope) that some market correction will occur. At that point there ought to be a whole bunch of nice 2-3yo units that people bought during covid craziness but later realized the RV lifestyle isn't what they really want. That's when I plan to buy back in. ;)

We sold our 2008 trailer in 12 hours on Facebook, a couple months ago... for more than what I paid for it back in 2015. It was still in good shape, I had new tires and other maintenance already done, it was priced reasonably, and the right/ready/willing buyer came along at the same time. All part of the magical formula that I enjoy about dealerless transactions.

Did you ever end up buying yourself an RV?

It seems like I see the same repetitive thing going on with this Forum all the time,, half trying to sell and the other half trying to buy..>>>D

I guess that’s kinda how the Supply & Demand economy works, huh? 😉

What about me… I sold last year, but plan to buy again in the future. Who knows where I belong, hehe.
