Locke was home to Chinese laborers who built the railroads and built the CA Delta levees, until the clamshell dredge was brought in.
Tommy & I used to take our boat from Eddo's (Sherman Island) to the boat dock at Walnut Grove and from there walk a half mile or so to get to Locke.

But we liked the restaurant in Rio Vista on the way. It was a weird mixture of foods. Mexican/BBQ/Italian & Chinese. The owner was Chinese, married to an Italian who used to own a restaurant in Mexico (or something like that). Actually, made some sense after we chatted with the owner. We thought it was very good. Don't know if it still exists as it's now been many years.

It was fun to be able to boat to the restaurants on or near the water.

You sure that wasn't in Isleton? Maybe they were cousins

We've eaten at several eateries in Rio Vista on multiple occasions, but don't recall one of those 'mixed cuisine' restaurants; Doesn't mean it's not there. But I know there's a Chinese/American one in Isleton that you reminded me of, and we passed it en route to Locke.

But it was also BBQ, Mexican and Italian. Could that have been it?

We usually had the BBQ there.

I don't really know; Too many years since we ate there. Rio Vista has a number of eateries, but I don't recall one like you described. Maybe Google could help (?)

Just remembered the name of the restaurant I was thinking of in Isleton; It's Rogelio's- Italian, Mexican, Chinese. Sounds like it might be the one you remember.

Probably is. IIRC, the BBQ was a special--not on the menu. Looks right also, from what I can remember.

But it's now "permanently closed", says its own website. Perhaps it didn't survive the COVID thing.

Same happened to my favorite restaurant in Auburn. Place was packed every day before COVID shut them down. Caribbean food, nothing like it anywhere else that I could find.

I must be looking at a different web site:

https://rogelios.net/

A number of boating friends berthed their boats at Oxbow marina, and Rogelio's was their regular watering hole & eatery.

Yes, look very closely at your website. First, the name. Next the addresses, (all in Canada). I had the same issue when I searched. I too ended up there at Delicaco's instead of Rogelios at first. Then I discovered the Rogelio's webite. See if you can use pageback from there and then get the Rogelio's website where it says "permanently closed".

It's tricky to get to the old website, but can be done.

Oh well, I tried. Was thinking of our next mini rally being at Rogelio's, but I guess we need to find something else (maybe Foster's in Rio Vista).

Tried their phone number, but it's 'no longer in service'.
