Hi, hoping someone can help with a query.

I've just booked Site 343 Loop 0 on recreation.gov.

During the process this spot showed as a trailer 30ft site which we are.

However after booking the details are confusing and I'm not sure if we will fit. It says site can accommodate camper vans and car campers up to 30ft.

I can't wait until tomorrow to contact them as I need to book by then to get us in.

Does anyone have good experience of this campground to advise if we are OK or if I need to change booking?

Thank you.

Google street view, for some reason, they did not do the entire campground, just loop O and a couple of others. This is a 2013 image so things have changed somewhat I'm sure. I added the red lines based on the other sites and the positioning of the grass and the pullouts. In SpencerPJ's pic it looks like the power pedestal is way forward in the site, so take your extension cord.

Thanks for that. Hmm still not sure. Think we'll be ok.
There's no power though.

Jackie, I've just looked at the Colter bay map and can tell you we were in loop O in 2019.
I don't know which actual site we were put in but I do know it was far from level side to side, the wheels were around 4" of the ground. Length wise we did fit. Loop O was poorly maintained with only 1 working restroom. It was annoying as there were plenty of vacant sites on other loops that were perfectly level.
I've just looked at a detailed map, I think we were on pitch 347.

You need to reserve now 6 months in advance hence my request. Will look into it further tomorrow and if needs be cancel and see what else I can do.

Thanks for advice.

I don't know when you are planning on staying there, we were there in early June. We knew Grant village campground was to open the following Monday and for the first week was first come first served so we got there real early. We were second in the queue!

Well since your site was so uneven, you can expect to be pitched out of your bunk. :ROFLMAO: A point of note, FWIW since Colter Bay is a major point for visitors for one of the largest parks, you would think they would find a way to upgrade the cell service, which is just above zero service. The laundry area provided at best service while providing a place to clean our act up. At least there is a refueling stop .

It might be at the best cell service that it will ever get.

"Most parks, especially Yellowstone National Park, have made a review of existing technology facilities, cataloged their inventory and made recommendations for public and governmental review. The result, in most cases, is that the Park Service has followed a de facto moratorium on new wireless facilities and has permitted wireless infrastructure only in areas where facilities already exist. Their recommendations also include a reduction or relocation of some cellular installations, especially where they are visible to park visitors. Also, the Park Service has restricted any new or relocated facilities to provide no more cellular coverage than is already available and no service can be expanded into designated Wilderness areas. In the opposing view, the Park Service has not enforced their own policies and rules very closely and many cell sites have been installed in a manner that does not adhere to the spirit of the Park Service objectives of balancing technology needs with aesthetic desires."

We got a bigger site today K211.
The only issue I see is that that is the second site on the LEFT as you enter the loop. Your door will be facing the road unless you drive the loop the "wrong way" to get your door away from the road. I won't say its any bigger but it certainly looks flatter and more even with the pavement. In this pic, the Airstream is in 208 and 211 is just behind/past the Airstream. And yes, the Airstream is pointed the wrong way, so I suspect it is common to carefully drive the loops clockwise rather than CCW. If you do drive it backwards, you will turn left, BEFORE you get to this point.

We love the Tetons @SeilerBird although the weather was sketchy last year. We love the wildlife and we take the canoe around the oxbend a lot. We saw a family of otters there several times last year for the first time. There are usually beavers but for some reason we didn't see any. The lodge there was in a movie back in the 60s!

Thanks Charles. We just couldn't find a way to easily see the spots. As long as we're in it doesn't matter. Thanks for the heads up. We'll check the site out when we are at Gros Ventre. 😁
