    Trying to keep my cool

Does your current 2200 watt generator have a parallel port that allows you to add a second unit when you need more power? Not the cheapest option, but would allow you to add the extra power when needed without replacing the original or getting a different AC. Another option would be a 2 hose...

West Virginia Parks / Big Rig Friendly

Pipestem State Park near Beckley WV is big rig friendly. Very bice park although the access roads will keep your attention. Not hard, just typical of secondary roads in hilly areas Beckley has a coal mining camp museum. Buildings were transported from various coal mine towns in the area. If...

do most finance or just pay it off

Just a little clarification, 501(c)3 and 501(c)4 organizations can and often generate a profit ( revenue exceeds expenses) but unlike a "for profit" organization can not distribute those profits to individuals. Rather, the profit is reinvested in the organization. Nearly 50% of US hospitals...

    Cost of PA/OH/WV/MD/NY State Parks

See https://ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/cabins Most are in the $130 to $170 per night including bedding etc. Bass island is the exception at $400 per night in season. It's been a few years, but we did stay in a cabin at Hocking Hills. Had everything we needed. No luxury, but great...

    Boondocking near Flagstaff, AZ

Actually FOB stands for "free on board" and defines when the buyer or the seller is responsible/liable for the goods during transit. FOB destination the seller is liable to the destination. FOB origin the seller becomes liable as soon as the goods hit the shipper. If that doesn't float...

States that give the most speeding tickets. . .

For those of you who don't live in Ohio, thought I would pass along some statistics related to Ohio Highway patrol speeding enforcement, They issued about 241,000 speeding tickets last year. Only 1,200 were for exceeding the speed limit by 8 MPH or less. While you can get a ticket for...

Replacement pump for Remco trans pump?

Runs continuously. The Remco system uses a shuttle valve with an alarm system. If the pump is turned on and the shuttle valve hasn't shifted as a result of the pump flow, it sounds an alarm. I would include a similar alarm in your system. Let's you know immediately if the pump fails. Also...

    Open Frame Inverter Generators

64 DB at 23 feet is 70 at 12.5 ft, 76 at 6.25 ft and 82at 3 feet. Funny how the manufacturers pick a distance that yields a DB level close to that of a normal conversation. At three feet, the generator is as loud as an alarm clock. My Wen closed frame 3800 Surge (3400 continuous ) is rated...

Replacement pump for Remco trans pump?

My Remco is installed on a PT Cruiser. Flow rate is listed as 2.2 gallons per minute. Listed amp draw is 2 - 3.5 at 12 volts. If there are any other specs, they are where they can't be read with the pump installed. Hope the info helps

What kind of pocket knife do you carry?

I have a Frontier Imperial 4715. Been in my pocket for nearly 40 years. 2 inch locking blade. Grandkids and great grandkids "know" where to go if they need some packaging cut or otherwise need something cut. Only problem is keeping it sharp with all the requests to cut tape!

    Long Term Care Insurance

Alzheimer's units currently run $8,000 to $10,000 per month. Set aside $240,000, reinvest the earnings and you will come close to covering 2 years of care ( if earnings match the cost increases. Don't have the exact history on premiums as we are wintering away from home, but the 18 years of...

    Long Term Care Insurance

My data is old, but when we were looking at LT care insurance, there was a better than 50/50 chance an individual would need would LT care and the average length was slightly more than 2 years. We also both had parents that required LT care. That said, LT care insurance, like any form of...

    Who knows New York?

Went into NYC last summer to see the 9-11 Memorial. Trip to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island was too long ago to be of use, but be sure to get your tickets early as they do sell out. It is pretty easy walk from Battery Park (Ferry to Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island) to the 9-11...

Traveling from Raleigh, NC to Ann Arbor, MI

If you opt to take US 33 and US 23 through Ohio, Delaware ST Park is a good option. No pull throughs, but very nice campground. Reservations are required, but if you avoid weekends there should be open spots.

Steps come to slow stop half way up

Ditto on lubricating everything first. You might want to consider a penetrating oil first to clear any grime and/or rust then lubricate. I'm dooming my motor to failure by saying this, but the motor is still raising the steps after 20 plus years. I lube the pivot points 2 to 3 times per year.
