    Repairing my rubber roof

Look at my summary of replacing our rubber roof, (also found in the forum?s library) http://www.rvforum.net/miscfiles/RV_re-roof.pdf We did a lot of fixes before we replaced the entire roof.  The fixes are very similar to patching a bicycle tube.

Anyone Ever Install a Rubber Roof?

We replaced our rubber roof a few years back.  It was 18years old.  I posted an article in the library section under major repairs, or http://www.rvforum.net/miscfiles/RV_re-roof.pdf It was not difficult but time consuming.  It's also best done with 1-2 helpers.

    rubber roof replacement

Take a look at the reroof project we did a few years ago, http://www.rvforum.net/miscfiles/RV_re-roof.pdf .  This will probably answer a lot of your questions.

Central New York Boondocking & Campsites

In this area, about the only place to boondock is a Walmart or similar parking lot.  There are many types of campgrounds to choose from.

Easiest route from Niagara Falls, NY to Williamsburg, VA

We drove this route last year.  When we head south from Rochester our main route is 390, 86, I-99, 15 into Williamsport, PA.  It looks like I-99 changes back to 15 at the NY/PA line.  These are all good roads.  15 is all divided into Williamsport from NY.  Yes, some hills typical of this part of...

Life Expectancy of a Class A diesel Radiator (Spartan)

I replaced mine at 8 yrs of age and 45k miles.  It failed due to lack of the yearly exterior flushing and corrosion.  The radiator was ALUM, now it is all brass & copper.  It took 6hrs to get it out and another 6 hrs to put it back in.  That equates to about $1200 in shop labor.  The radiator...

Safe place to stay in Chicago area?

We are planning to attend a wedding near Naperville this summer.  For that trip our plan was to stay at the Holiday Casino campground in Joliet.  Any comments on that facility?

    Rubber re roof question

The rubber usually goes on top of the end caps, but under the trim strip that holds the end caps down.  Feel free to review our reroof project, see link below.

    Removing luan from roof

When we reroofed our motorhome, see link below, the luan just peeled off the Styrofoam with little effort.  If I were to do it again, I'd patch in the spots that were bad, then apply a new layer of luan over the entire roof.  The reason it that the new luan had problems bonding to the...

Help me get Class C license to rent 30+ RV from NY to Florida from 12/24 - 12/29

Gary has stated the NYS DMV rules correctly.  Your class E is fine unless the RV gross weight is over 26,000#. For us, living in NYS, obtaining the 'R' endorsement was a major hassle.  The DMV staff and examiners I dealt with, a few years ago, had little knowledge of how to handle my request to...

"tire balancing beads": does it work?

They work very well.  They adjust and precisely balance the rotating masses attached to the tire.  I first put them in my truck, liked them so well that they were installed on its second set of cheap tires with balance issues.  No need to rebalance tires during their lifespan, the beads adjust...

Winterizing - Antifreeze vs. Compressed Air

Back in the 70's we only blew the lines out with air.  One spring we found a burst water line.  Since then we've used air then push RV antifreeze thru the lines and back fill some into the hot & fresh water tanks.  No problems in any spring since.  The cost of the pink stuff is a small price for...

Where do you buy gas for a large MH in New England?

I use the GasBuddy app for its cost comparison, map, and satellite views.  I also find that I get fuel more based upon cost and access instead of the need for it in the NE.  That approach does require some preplanning.

VIN on 1989 georgie boy encounter

Ours has a VIN plaque on the outside wall above the driver's seat. It also has a printed options list that includes the VIN stuck to the outside wall in the rear isle closet.  There may also be a VIN tag on the outside of the firewall near the fuse panel in front of the driver.  I'm not...
