Lap Belts and Car Seats Question (Rental)

Rain.  I remember rain.  Its where water falls from the sky, isn't it?  We don't get that stuff here in Southern California.  Too bad, I hear it is a wonder at putting out brush fires.

    Weight Distribution Hitch question

The gross vehicle weight rating [GVWR] of your trailer should not exceed the tow rating of the truck.  If you intend to tow in the mountain or Pacific West, with a non-turbocharged engine, deduct 20% from the tow rating to allow for the altitudes and grades out here in the west.

    Electrical problem in Travel Trailer

Have you checked on the house circuit breaker at your house panel?  Sounds to me like the load of the AC starting up popped a circuit with other loads on it.

Seeking route up and down west coast based on weather

Well you could do the British Columbian RV pilgramage to San Diego which usually starts in October.  Once in SD, you can chose city, mountain, or desert and never leave the county.

Should I hook up the trailer brakes and sway controller on my pop up?

From the CA DMV website:  In California, brakes are required on any trailer coach or camp trailer having a gross weight of 1500 lbs. or more.

    I NEED MORE POWER.....

Okay, we seem to have established that generator will not work for you based on a combination of noise and price. You're not going to be able to get enough solar charge your battery for $225 or less. The issue of theft was raised and could be a consideration depending upon the sociological...

    "test drive"

What is your truck then?  What is its tow rating?

    "test drive"

Not likely. Even if he would, you're not going to learn much. A travel trailer needs: 1. A hitch receiver; 2.  A ball mount and ball; 3.  A weight distribution system for all but very small trailers; 4.  An anti-sway system; 5. A trailer brake controller installed on the truck; 6. A load of your...

    tongue weight

The lower limit in tongue weight is the critical spec -- a nose light trailer is an unstable tow.  Exceeding the upper limit is considerably  less critical.    You could reduce tongue weight by removing weight forward of the trailer wheels by say, reducing water in a water tank forward of the...

    Post a joke

Paraphrase of an old British political bon mot involving Winston Churchill and Lady Astor.  As reported in the Wikipedia article on her:  Lady Astor said to Churchill, "If you were my husband, I'd poison your tea," to which he responded, "Madam, if you were my wife, I'd drink it!"
